WE ARE COMMITTED TO YOU Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller has stressed that despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to our daily lives, Council remains committed to the community. Despite the temporary closure of facilities and cancellations of events, essential services such as rubbish collection have been maintained and our childcare and early learning centres have remained open. “As NSW Government advice allows it, we will begin the process of returning to our regular services and re-opening our facilities,” Mayor Wendy Waller said.

The Community Recycling Centre and Council’s Customer Service Counter have now reopened to the public, and families are again welcome to use our many wonderful playgrounds. But Mayor Waller said work to support the community is ongoing and Council has also launched a number of initiatives to help local businesses affected by the pandemic. Mayor Waller said we can all help by spending our money closer to home. “Purchase goods, services or gift vouchers from local stores in-person or online, or order tasty takeaway and get it delivered safely to your front door,” Mayor Waller said.

HELP FOR THOSE HIT HARDEST

Even during the COVID-19 crisis, Council is making sure important work can continue, with ePlanning services now expanded to allow Development Applications to be lodged online.

Making it easier to delay rate payments, six months’ free rent for most retail and small tenants of council-owned properties, refunds to hirers and a business resilience grants program are among almost 20 Council initiatives to help those hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Development Applications (DAs) play a core part of Council’s work and this change will ensure DAs can continue to be lodged, processed and determined.

“We have entered unprecedented times and Liverpool City Council will continue to do all that it can to support those doing it tough,” Mayor Wendy Waller said. Council has ramped up its #LoveLivo campaign to urge the community to support local businesses, among many other initiatives. “We are working to ensure our community is supported and we can get through this difficult time together,” Mayor Waller said.

PERFECT 2040 VISION

Council’s 20-year planning vision for Liverpool has been given the green light by the Greater Sydney Commission.

maintain and enhance the great qualities of Liverpool that make it such a wonderful place to live, work, study and visit,” Mayor Waller said.

Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS), Connected Liverpool 2040 will guide development in Liverpool over the next two decades.

The Commission’s approval follows a flurry of activity in Council’s planning work for the future.

Mayor Wendy Waller said it would balance the need for housing, jobs and services, along with parks, community services and the natural environment.

In January its 10-year Draft Liverpool City Centre Public Domain Master Plan went on display and last month, early planning details for The Fifteenth Avenue Smart Transit (FAST) Corridor were released.

“Now with the Greater Sydney Commission’s tick of approval it’s time to get on with our key priorities to

ANIMALS SHELTER IN PLACE Liverpool City Council has been provided an extension of the lease on its Liverpool Animal Shelter and is looking for a new local site for a long-term solution. The shelter had been set to close in March, due to the impending sale of the privately owned land it operates on in Austral. “Finding a new home for the animal shelter in Liverpool is a significant challenge but this extension has provided more time for the search,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said. “We know many of our residents want the shelter to continue to be based in Liverpool and we are working to identify suitable sites.”
