£25,000 for local community groups and a £25,000 for local community groups £10,000 building makeover from Fletchrose

A word from our Editor

cash for your community

LIVERPOOL ...the city that cares. “If ever there was a fitting slogan then this must be it. In the midst of the worst and longest recession in living memory, Merseyside’s ability to dig deep is extraordinary. Our Wish campaign provides the evidence that community spirit has rarely been stronger. Liverpool Echo readers across Merseyside collected a staggering number of Wish tokens. Everyone who helped deserves massive admiration and gratitude to match. The hard work will though, bring very tangible rewards too. I can now reveal that the 150 community groups who organised token collections brought in a stunning 3m-plus! That’s a whopping 15 per cent ahead of last year. So many people will now reap the benefit as we share out the cash. Our overall winner is Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice who

collected 206,828 tokens and will receive £1,704.41 ...as well as the £10,000 makeover from Fletchrose. A fitting reward for a fitting winner. What an amazing effort. And for those with smaller handouts we know from past experience that a little goes a long way and that even a few pounds can make a big difference. I’d just like to say, on behalf of the Echo, thanks so much to everyone who took part in our Wish Campaign. On our part we got enormous satisfaction from having the opportunity to highlight the magnificent work done by community groups and charities across this fantastic region. I hope the publicity is of value.” Alastair Machray, Liverpool ECHO Editor

ANOTHER AMAZING CHALLENGE The Fletchrose team has watched the Wish campaign build momentum in recent weeks and have been amazed at the level of involvement from communities, culminating in an outstanding 3 million tokens submitted! To cap this off, we see Zoe’s Place has taken the top spot and Fletchrose would like to congratulate them and their supporters who submitted 200,000 tokens. Paul Durose, Chief Executive at Fletchrose said: “What a huge effort by everyone involved and a massive well done to Zoes Place. They are an amazing charity and we’re incredibly proud to be able to support them through Wish. We look forward to visiting Zoes Place very soon and discussing how we can help make a difference to their centre.” Fletchrose has pledged its support once again to the Wish winner with a £10,000 makeover challenge. The firms multi skilled team are able to support Zoes Place in a project of their choice be it a new kitchen, bathroom, heating system, garden area and more. Paul added: “We’re involved in maintenance and general build schemes through our ongoing work with private contractors, local

authorities and housing associations. This mixed scope of works means our operatives are skilled in all disciplines allowing us to support almost any scheme.” Last year, Woodlands Hospice was named winner and Fletchrose delivered a series of external improvements throughout the garden, enabling those in wheelchairs to enjoy and tend to the garden. Paul added: “We’re keen to work really closely with Zoes Place and ask supporters, friends and family to get involved and make the most of our time there. This whole initiative is based on community and we want to ensure this ethos continues through our involvement.” Fletchrose was launched some six years ago by Paul Durose, during which time the firm has quickly grown to become leaders in the contracting, planned and reactive maintenance fields within the North West. The launch of the firms heating business, The Heat Team, has spurred further growth through diversification, this year since the launch of the Renewables arm which will again take the firm in a new direction. Further information regarding Fletchrose can be found at www.fletchrose.co.uk
