Traditional Rice By: Jada Lee

China is the world's top producer and consumer of rice. It produces and consumes a third of the world's rice, about 200 million tons a year. In 2004 China was forced to import rice when it produced 124 million tons but consumed 150 million tons. In 1989 the output was 179 million metric tons. My opinion on the rice they use rice to do formal traditions like at funerals but in america we throw rice at weddings

Rice is the staple food of two-thirds of China’s population. Chinese scientists recently became the first in the world to prepare a draft sequence of the genome for the indica race of rice. Indica rice is by far the most widely planted in Asia, and this achievement has the potential to create many benefits for Asian producers and consumers of rice.

Chinese Traditions By: Juliana Gonzalez

A chinese tradition is the Chinese New Year. It's where most of the Chinese spend their time with their family. They do this thing called a ¨reunion dinner,¨ where the whole family of different generations sit together. They also decorate every part of their street or building. They also give out red envelopes for good luck. I would like to have a tradition like that on New Years. It’s very interesting to have a festival for New Years.

Another tradition is the Lantern Festival which is also known as the Yuanxiao Festival. This takes place in November 25,2016-January 2,2017. The Lantern Festival last 5 weeks. The festival includes a lot of different lanterns of different figures. In China itś celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar moon. The Lantern Festival is also celebrated in the U.S in different states. The lantern festival seems very traditional so I really like it

The Qingming Festival is called the Tomb Sweeping Day in English. It falls on one day between April 4 and 6. This is a festival for offering sacrifices. The han and the minority ethnic groups sweep the tombs of the dead, and offer sacrifices to their loved ones. It is called the ¨Pure Bright Festival.¨ It is to show respect to past ancestors. People go to sweep tombs to show respect. This is showing respect to others and I think that everyone should do that.

As we all know, today The Great Wall Of China is a historical place that people visit for amazement. But does anybody really know what the meaning behind it is, or the history of this wall. Well, then today's your lucky day, because I’m about to tell most of the things you need to know about this Great Wall. Emperor Qin Shi Huang came up with the idea of a Great Wall Of China. He forced common people to build it for him. More than 400,000 people died during this construction due to the heavy work, and the inclement weathers. Their bodies were buried within the walls. The Construction started in the Spring and Autumn period of 770-476 BC, and lasted until the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) This wall is located in Huairou, China. Why was this wall built? This wall created an elaborate defensive system providing Chinese society with a safe and peaceful environment, and to keep off invaders from the north. Before the wall was built, the location of it was just terrain, so the emperor took advantage of that. Overall, The Great Wall of China is a beautiful place and should be visited at least once in someone's lifetime. We hear about these amazing places, and automatically want to visit them or know some more about it. So there you have it‌ some information on The Great Wall Of China and what is signifies. Famous Place By Jaeyeon Lee

This place is called The Forbidden City. It is located in the centre of Beijing , China. This building was built throughout the 14 years during the region of the emperors. No one was allowed to come inside this building unless, they had a permission from the special emperors. A lot of travels from other places see this place and when they come at night, it sometimes performs a fountain show while the lights are shinning. When people go inside, people can see the decorations or the paintings of the royal architectural and the grand halls. This place is divided into two different places. The southern section was where the emperor exercised his super powers over the nation. The northern part is where he lived with his family. When you start touring The Forbidden City, it takes about four to five hours to complete the tour.
