NBA STAR LEBRON JAMES NEW SCHOOL IN OHIO James will be trying to change the lives of a group of school kids in Akron, Ohio. The Akron School Board recently approved the opening of James' I Promise School. James founded the school as a way to support struggling students.

The new school "means everything to me. There are so many kids and families struggling," James said. "We want this school to be a safe, positive place that helps them stay on the right track to earning their educations."

James, who grew up in Akron, plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA team. So far, he has supported more than 1,200 students. He has offered them educational help, and the chance to earn full, four-year college scholarships.
