EDITOR’S LETTER We are proud to present you with our very first printed edition of the 2minutter Magazine. 2minutter is a Norwegian magazine that launched August 2014, and even though we are keeping the Norwegian name, we still want to share this magazine with our American readers. In English, 2minutter means 2minutes and our concept is very simple; we want to succeed and we want YOU to succeed, in whatever we all put our minds to. We want to inspire you through various creative and talented people in the entertainment industry in only 2 minutes. We are going to give you amazing photo series and inspiring interviews both in our magazine and on our website. Online you can see videos from our shoots, behind the scene sneak peaks, get daily updates and read reviews from events and concerts. This print magazine is being created thanks to our favorite ice-cream factory Hennig-Olsen Is and theire new launch DUGG Frozen Yoghurt & Fruit Sorbet and our printing office: Synkron Media. We appreciate their support and belief in our independent magazine and our creative team. We want to show that you can create anything you set your mind to and if you work hard enough – only the sky is the limit. We choose to only cover the people that we love and admire. There is no room for negativity in our magazine and we want to show of the unbelievable talent this world has to offer. We thought long about doing the magazine in Norwegian, but since LA is our second home, we have decided to put everything in English. A lot of the content in this magazine is created in the city of angels, which we love with all our hearts. Every member in our team is born and raised in Norway and we think the Norwegian public has something to learn from the “can-do”spirit that exist over seas. Even though we have the best starting point to succeed, we live in a country that is too possessed by a norm called “Janteloven” or the “Law of Jante”. So please – join us in our journey where we learn to not give a f*** about what other people say as long as we are happy our selves. Learn with us, teach us and be inspired by the people that have defied the “Law of Jante” and gone out to chase their dreams! Now, who do you want to spend 2 min with?

NAME: BRANDI CYRUS ORIGIN: NASHVILLE OCCUPATION: BLOGGER / TV HOST INSTAGRAM: @BRANDICYRUS TWITTER: @THEBRANDYCYRUS

The girl you’re about to meet is a member in one of the most famous, loved and talked about families in the US. Her talent stretches between being a musician, acting, designing clothes and now also hosting TV-shows, covering events and interviewing big artists. She is born with creativity in her bones and being a part of a multitalented family has influenced everything about her. The girl we are talking about is no other than the beautiful and charismatic Brandi Cyrus who we met at the Pink Motel in Los Angeles this fall. Brandi is the half-sister of pop-icon Miley Cyrus and has grown up with the beloved Billy Ray as her stepdad. All of her siblings have chosen to be a part of the entertainment industry and her mother is also a producer and actress.

the same time she was also challenged to keep striving, keep working and keep creating. - Everyone is doing all of these great things so you want to do great things too, and we all motivate each other without even realizing it. Balancing time is something she will probably never get a handle on, where her plate is fuller than most others. There are just not enough hours in a day for Brandi to do everything she wants, but right now her main focus is her style blog. Style Native has become her outlet to share her fashion choices from everyday life to red carpet events. She has also gotten the opportunity to design her own clothes. Brandi likes to dress in things that reflect her personality and the pieces that are unique and a little bit out of the box makes her feel most like her self. - Fashion is a big part of everyone’s life, whether they realize it or not. Everyone gets dressed in the morning, and like it or not what you wear says a lot about who you are! If your style makes you feel like the best YOU, then THAT is great fashion.

Brandi is also pursuing more on-camera work, Brandi grew up in Nashville, TN and has lived in LA which is something that she really loves doing and for the last five years before moving back to her are going to be doing a lot more of in 2015. interview big artists and attending the Clive Davis Grammy Party last year were big moments in her life.

from the beginning is something Brandi is really excited about, and she has been dying to design for a while now.

Alongside fashion and television lies her real passion – music. She grew up around it and was in her own band for a long time as the one half of the pop duo Frank + Derol. She says that music will forever strike a chord in her no matter what. They were able to release their self-titled EP and she spent almost two years making music with her co-member Codi. - Not everyone gets to hold their record in their hands, with a major label stamped on it. Even though things didn’t work out as we had planned, I’m still super proud of it and very grateful for the experience.

Brandi is also working on a whole new project that she can’t talk about yet. She says it will be AWESOME and that it is going to launch in 2015. We will just have to wait and see!

At the moment, Brandi is working on her clothing line that she has in collaboration with ValleyCity – a curated web store with other great designers like Dani Thorne and Audrey Kitching. Being part of it

Brandi splits her time between her hometown Nashville and workplace Los Angeles. Life in Nashville is definitely more relaxing and laid back and she spends her time in the barn with her horse or hanging out with friends. Life in LA on the other hand is so crazy that there never seems to be time for anything but work. Working in LA has a lot of great benefits when you are a part of the entertainment industry and Brandi loves the drive people have in LA. She says it’s good to be around people that have dreams they intend on reaching. The beautiful weather is not such a bad thing either.

But being a part of the entertainment industry is not always easy. People can be mean, especially the press and bloggers who think they’re the press, and of course people on social media. - I know it’s not a secret, but until you’re the target of someone’s negative and ignorant slander you don’t realize how much it can hurt you. They do it to me, and I watch them do it to both of my younger sisters. It’s awful, but they’re just hurting other people to make themselves feel better. You just have to learn how to not let it damage you. Brandi also says that it is important to be prepared to hear a lot of ‘No’s’, to be turned down, to be pushed around and ignored. You have to be prepared to push through it and believe in yourself because everyone that has success went through the same darn thing. You also have to do something that makes you happy. - If you’re doing something that you don’t love, things will never get better, and it’ll never be worth

it. Don’t waste time on something or someone that isn’t fulfilling you. Brandi owes all her success of her fashion blog to her Instagram following. She says it has completely changed everything and in the entertainment industry right now, your Instagram numbers are like currency. The people to follow are @shopvalleycity where you can get all the deets on her clothing line, @miistashoes, her favorite shoe brand and @rocketandlace, her friends clothing line with great photos, rad clothes and a lot of personal stuff. Finally, can you let us in on a secret no one else knows about you? - People ask me this all the time in interviews. I don’t think I really ever had any to begin with, haha! I guess no one knows that I’m on a flight to LA right now and I have the whole row to myself and my stuff is spread out all over the place and I’ve totally taken over. #sorrynotsorry.

We are so exited to feature the Grammy-winning artist Sirah on the very first cover of the 2minutter Magazine printed edition. One of our favorite celebrity- and fashion photographers Angelo Kritikos worked his magic and gave us some amazing pictures of the beautiful Sirah. Many of us know her from her successful collaborations with the electro-house artist Skrillex, but Sirah’s road to success was not an easy one. In this interview you will get to know Sirah behind the fame and fortune and see for yourself that everyone who wants it enough can achieve their goals and dreams.

2 16

NAME: SARA ELIZABETH MITCHELL aka SIRAH ORIGIN: NEW YORK CITY OCCUPATION: SINGER/RAPPER INSTAGRAM: @sirahsays TWITTER: @Sirah

Sirah experienced a rough childhood consisting of poverty, homelessness and the loss of her father to drugs at a very early age. She was born on Long Island, NY, but managed to get herself to Los Angeles at the age of fifteen after being in a little to much trouble with the law on the east coast. When she was seventeen she started going to a rap open mic in South Central Los Angeles called Project Blowed. This was where SIRAH was born! - They basically taught me how to rap. When I’d fall off I’d get booed off stage till next week.

I truly woke up with this feeling that I had to pursue music and I haven’t stopped since. The early experiences in her life shaped Sirah into who she is through and through. She still stashes money under her mattress, inside walls and hides it in different accounts. She drives her old Hyundai Accent because it still works and she is able to appreciate things to a deeper extent than most people. Her early life has also honed her work ethic, where all she knows is work after having a job since the age of ten.

Sirah tells us that people are always surprised when they meet her and that they always say she is different than what they expected. Her friends would tell you that she is bossy, extremely loyal and possibly too honest. Her family on the other hand would have liked to see her as a comedian. She gave us some cliff notes explaining who she is: - I own weapons, pick up and house homeless kids/prostitutes, I love board games, I make every conversation awkward or inappropriate by way of jokes that sometimes only I think are funny,

How did you manage to get out of that lifestyle? - I honestly don’t know how I got out. I had a lot of awful things happen - a lot of my friends were killed, but none of that effected me. It was like I woke up one day and knew for the first time that I had purpose and with that thought I flipped everything around.

17

I hug everyone within a one mile radius, I still drive my Hyundai Accent that I bought with a duffel bag of cash before my career popped off, and I love gnome trinkets. What has been the best choice you have ever made for yourself and what would you tell the young and struggling Sirah if you had the chance? - Oh man, I have no idea! The smallest choices I’ve made have led to some of my biggest moments. Success for me has been slow and gradual. I guess I would tell her, “Don’t worry, no matter how much you over think everything you’re still gonna win a Grammy for a song you record in bed while wearing your pajamas”. After a rough start on life, Sirah has managed to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She has written songs for other artists, worked with big names like Lupe Fiasco and won a Grammy with Skrillex for best dance/electronica album. Right now she is wrapping up her new EP called ‘High Beams”, which she describes as different than a lot of her other music. - I’m dropping it in February and it’s probably darker, more melodic popped laced with heavy, yet vibey production. We’ll be dropping videos and content the next few months. What advice would you give to other young people that want to pursuit a career in music and entertainment? - Whenever kids ask me for advice I ask them if they’re sure this is what they want to do. I don’t think everyone is cut out for the entertainment industry, but if they are, then I always tell them to stalk everyone they love and admire and copy what that person has done to be the best. I used to send out press kits to anyone and everyone at their home addresses etc. I’ve sent cookies and homemade chocolates to company executives and interns alike. I got a phone and would use a fake accent as I pretended to manage me as though I was someone else. If nothing else be memorable.

18

Sirah has now become a real LA-girl and has had the pleasure of experiencing every kind of LAcraziness – she mentions the Hollywood-crazy, the music-industry-crazy and the standard livingin-LA-crazy. - I remember when I used to take the bus late at night. I got on one night at 2:00am, a few stops later a huge 6’5 black guy dressed as Satan in 6 inch silver platforms got on and sat next to me. He proceeded to ask me on a date. Seeing Harry Potter at the 101 cafe in LA was also a memorable Hollywood-crazy experience for Sirah, where she refused to call him Daniel Radcliffe and had a mini meltdown as she kept motioning the heart sign with both her hands. While living the LA-lifestyle Sirah loves to hang out in down town LA where all her favorite artists live and record. She spends her days in the studio, only interrupted by attending a show here and there or making art with her friends. If you ever find yourself in LA, Sirah mentions that you should come out to one of their Ham on Everything parties in the summer. As always we want to know who we should follow on Instagram this month and Sirah’s favorites are: @Angelokritikos, @Msninaojorgeline and @therealhelenkeller. And finally I bet you are wondering what Sirah’s dirty little secret is! - I hide bags of Sour Patch Kids around my room. I don’t know who I’m hiding it from.

NaME: OMER BHATTI ORIGIN: Drammen, Norway OCCUPATION: Artist & dancer INSTAGRAM: @kidslife TWITTER: @RealOBee

If there is one person we would expect to be used to attention, it is Omer Bhatti. He grew up with Michael Jackson as his protégé, he’s a judge on Norway’s Got Talent and loves to dance, sing and perform – but still, he describes himself as shy. For Omer it’s important to believe in yourself and follow your passion – that’s what he did when he started dancing and making music. Interview: Elisabeth Vik Løvland Written by: Linni Lømsland Photography by: Mariann Vik Assistant: Håkon Pettersen

26

We sat down with Omer Bhatti after his DJ-gig at Havana Club in Kristiansand to talk to him about his life and career. And it was an openhearted Omer we met. - When I was little, I was told to dream big. I think that all societies dumb you down, for instance when you have to have a job. I can give you so many reasons why you should not have a job, but rather follow your passion. Let’s say you have a passion for something, for example painting. If you have a desire to be an artist I believe that’s your calling in life, like I have a passion for music and dancing. I think that’s my purpose in life and my calling is to do exactly that. Follow it a hundred percent and don’t even have a plan B. If you have a second plan, you’re putting energy into the wrong plan like you’re already there. I don’t see why people should have that. If you truly believe in yourself you don’t need a plan B.

Omer has always loved to dance, and has been practicing for about as long as he can remember. As he said, it’s his passion in life. Even though he has his own style, he sometimes has to keep himself from looking too similar to Michael Jackson’s dancing. - He taught me a lot about dancing, but I think I would have been dancing regardless. It is a part of me as a person. We danced together, but we also spoke about dancing. We could just sit and talk for hours. When you get that knowledge you start practicing and training yourself. Today, I have my own style, but a lot of it is very close to the way Michael danced, of course. But I am trying to do my own thing. Naturally when I dance it’s very similar. Sometimes I stop myself, because I’m trying to do my own thing. I think every artist is like that – naturally you see every big artist out there – Justin Timberlake, Usher, Chris Brown – they’re all inspired

CLMD

Written by: Elsebeth Walsig Skau Photography by: Mariann Vik Assistants: Marthe Frøseth, John Fredrik Frøseth & Linni Lømsland

The Norwegian DJ-duo CLMD have taken the world of house music by storm with their creative tunes and visual sound. Carl Louis and Martin Danielle have already managed to warm up for some of the world’s most famous artist like Madonna, David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia, but this summer the duo decided to go their separate ways. Oh, don’t worry – Martin Danielle has now re-launched CLMD as Create Love, Music & Dreams and continues to create some of the best electronic music the world has to offer.

34

The chances of success in Norway were slim to nothing when Martin Danielle and Carl Louis started exploring their opportunities in the music industry. The duo had known each other from early childhood and the discovery of electronic music opened a whole new world for the two. Long before

house music and EDM became a popular genre, the two guys were a part of a world only they understood. It wasn’t until their song “The Message” was released in England and picked up by Swedish House Mafia, that the duo understood that they had something to bring to the table. - It was a lot of naivety that led to the breakthrough. If we hadn’t taken for granted that this was something we would make happen, we might not have made it this far. It is important to believe in yourself! Be stupid enough to try and smart enough to follow through, is something Martin lives by. He says it is important not to copy others where you will only end up being a bad version of the original. Being innovative is the key to success. And CLMD have been successful!

CLMD have warmed up for some of the biggest names in the business and played in cities like Miami, New York, London and Rio de Janeiro. Carl and Martin have had the opportunity to do official remixes for Bruno Mars on the song “Just The Way You Are” and Estelle on “Fall in Love” for Atlantic Records. Their smash hit “Black Eyes & Blue” was the first release on their own label, UPNORTH Recordings, and sold platinum in Norway. The single “The Stockholm Syndrome” sold six times platinum in Norway.

have learned more here in the last few months than I have ever learned before. The high level in the industry makes me challenge myself in ways I have never been able to in the past.

One of Martins biggest highlights was warming up for Madonna at Telenor Arena in Oslo. The best part wasn’t playing at the same stage as Madonna, but being at home and playing for a Norwegian crowd.

As a boyfriend, Martin describes himself as a softy. He’s a very loving person and open about his feelings, maybe a bit to open sometimes. He mentions Sandra’s new TV-show “Sandra Usensurert” where you can see the two lovebirds and get to know them a little better. Even though they are both

name: alejandro fuentes ORIGIN: KRISTIANSAND, norway OCCUPATION: ARTIST, JUDGE on IDOL JR. NORWAY AND PERSONAL TRAINER AT SOLSIDEN INSTAGRAM: @ALEJANDROFUENTES1

It has been almost ten years since we first saw Alejandro Fuentes on the TV-screen when he in 2005 ended up on third place on the Norwegian Idol. Today he has become a successful artist, but he still considers himself a young musician. He loves being able to travel around the country playing music and meeting new people, but his passion lies in writing new material. Alejandro has made his way into the Norwegians hearts with his southern charm and modest personality. He describes himself as quite a simple man who likes to do pretty normal stuff, but it’s through his music that he really shines. One of his favorite moments in his career was touring with Kurt Nilsen, Espen Lind and Askil Holm in 2006 and 2009. Meeting his idols David Gray and Little Steven was also a highlight, but the biggest moment of them all was performing with Little Steven at Rockefeller in Oslo. Becoming famous over night wasn’t all fun and joy for Alejandro, but he learned from his mistakes and became able to handle the attention a lot better. - Don’t let it go to your head. I did that myself at one point and it didn’t end good, but that’s how you learn. This fall we are once again able to see Alejandro on the TV-screen, where he is one of the judges on the very first season of Idol Junior here in Norway. The panel of judges consists of the former Idolcontestants Sandra Lyng, Margaret Berger, Aleksander With and of course Alejandro himself. They are now judging kids up to the age of fifteen, something that has become a heated debate-topic this fall. - We have been a part of this ourselves, so we know what the kids are going through. They have a huge

39

support team around them that are really professional when it comes to kids. I was a little skeptical myself at first, but when I got to see how great their support team was, I knew that these kids were going to be just fine. I also believe kids are more robust than adults when it comes to pressure and I think we have something to learn from them. Besides being a musician and an Idol-judge, Alejandro is working as a personal trainer and nutritionist. After a long period of time on the road, he felt that he had to start taking better care of himself. Working out has become his first priority in life and it makes him perform better in everything he does, both mentally and physically. He says the most important thing to do if you want to get in shape is to make a deal with yourself before everyone else. - What’s most important? It’s of course your body and your health. Love yourself to be able to love others.

40

For Alejandro this thought of mind certainly worked. This summer he tied the knot with the beautiful Christina Kobbeltvedt in his hometown Kristiansand. Some of his favorite Instagram-profiles are the stand up comedian @kevinhart4real, the academy for personal training @afpt and Norway’s best music management @mermusikk. We were able to meet up with Alejandro in Kristiansand where we joined in on one of his PT-classes. Afterwards we were invited to his home where we tried out the new Hennig-Olsen Frozen Yoghurt DUGG and made some killer smoothies! You can see more images and video from our 2min with Ali on 2minutter.com Finally, here is Alejandro’s little secret: - I’m kind of a closet dancer! I really love to dance!

ALICE IN VEGANLAND Written by: Alice Angelica Müller Coleman Photography by: Mariann Vik

I love the rain...always have. To me it is majestic, soul-soothing, and quenches the thirst of Mother Nature (and boy does California have a tendency towards seemingly everlasting drought). To be fair, I do not live in Bergen, but my eight months in Kristiansand earlier this year only enhanced my adoration for precipitation. On this late rainy evening as I nestle under the duvet snuggled up with my two sweet rescued terriers in my new Santa Monica loft, I ponder what lessons I have been endowed with this past year of transition and new beginnings. The holiday season affords us time to cherish those dear to our hearts; cultivate new and everlasting ties; volunteer our time, money, and efforts; relish the year we have experienced; set new goals

42

and aspirations for the year ahead; and of course, dig into deliciousness (as a foodie, coat season allows me more treats than I care to divulge). To assist you in creating the most fulfilling of holiday seasons, consider the following: LOVE – As the celebrated Beatles song goes, all you need is love. Though many of us are blessed enough to spend the holidays with those we adore, oftentimes we experience tension and friction in our relationships over the holidays. Emotions run high this time of year, so hold close the mantra that “Love is all, always...all ways” (Stanley B. Herman). Treat those around you with kindness and show your appreciation for them through your daily actions.

GIVE – Fortunately we all have the capacity to give. Despite the materialistic culture we have found ourselves in, the act of giving is amongst the most rewarding and cathartic actions. Give via time or money to your favorite charities and causes. Personally, as a self-proclaimed hippie and idealist, I do my best to offer a small contribution or snack to the homeless I come across; give love to animals at shelters (I adopted my two dogs Oliver Twist and Tesla, as well as my cat, Bob Dylan); and donate to Greenpeace on a monthly basis. I recently came across a viral video featuring celebrities such as Ricky Gervais and Judi Dench for an incredible organization by the name of Soi Dog Foundation (www.soidog.org) that fights the underground dogmeat industry in Thailand. Consider adopting, sponsoring, or transporting a dog or donating to the organization. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET – As we venture into consumer mode, it is imperative to support small and local businesses, as well as companies and brands that share your core values. Conduct research prior to purchase to assure that your money is fueling and feeding those with good intentions and actions. COMPASSIONATE CONSUMPTION – Sure the holidays are a great time to personify gluttony, but think before you eat. Not all “food” is created equal, and no I am not simply discussing what it takes to develop a chiseled jaw line and de-

fined abs. I have been a vegetarian since age five and vegan (no meat, fish, dairy, eggs, or any of their byproducts) for four years. Though I will allow my philosophy to trickle into future issues of 2MINUTTER, I must emphasize that what you allow into your body has consequences beyond yourself, as the consumption of meat and dairy are hazardous not only to your health, but the environment and wellbeing of animals as well... CULTIVATE INDIVIDUALITY – We all have the power to pave the road to our own destiny, however many individuals sadly wish to conform to physical images imbued by the media, as well as to societal expectations. There is nothing more beautiful or empowering than discovering the essence of you and to gift yourself, your talents, and your creativity to this Earth and those around you. Get to know yourself and own your individuality. Of course, these are simply suggestions from this Norwegian-American girl who jumps from one side of the pond to the other. However as a great yoga instructor once said, “take the best, and leave the rest.” The holidays are a great opportunity to celebrate all we have to be appreciative for, while nurturing self-progress and growth. I challenge you to look deep inside your lovely self and allow the real you to shine through. “Once you make a decision, the world conspires to make it happen.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

SOKO

Written by: Elsebeth Walsig Skau Photography by: Mariann Vik Makeup by: Jefferey Baum Assistants: Stiina Tangen Andersen & Anna Kaldestad

She loves vegan ice cream, cats, romance and turquoise and says she may or may not be an Alien! Well... all we know is that SoKo is an amazingly talented young woman that inspires us with her good values, creative spirit and quirky personality. She sings and acts, dresses in vintage from top to toe and lives a healthy vegan lifestyle (mostly because she is allergic to everything). It was not enough that we got to meet SoKo on a hot and sunny day in beautiful California, but we also got to spend the day in Frank Sinatra’s old mansion in Woodland Hills. Surrounded by the ghosts of old legends and spending the day with one to be, was the perfect way to explore this energetic creature that is making her way to the top in the entertainment capital of the world. If SoKo had to choose, she would spend her days in the studio making music, only interrupted by the beach calling, cute kittens in need of some cuddling and great friends pilled on top of each other in her huge bed watching movies. And as you might have guessed – her favorite place in LA is her bed! What advice would you give to someone moving to LA to pursuit his or her dreams of being an artist? - Work hard. Never give up. Don’t be lazy. SoKo has been in numerous French films and TV shows and was also the voice of Isabella in the movie Her by Spike Jonze, featuring Scarlett Johansson, Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams. She says that acting in the movie Augustine was an insane highlight of her career, but music has also been a big part of her life.

craziest experience was going on a blind date with Robert Pattinson. That was pretty weird…

Which of your own songs are your favorite and why? - “We Might Be Dead By Tomorrow”, because it still very much describes the way I live my life everyday as if it was the last and forces me to love life fully. Her next big goal is to finish her new record, put all her thoughts into songs, direct a lot more videos and act in more amazing movies that tell good stories about strong female characters. Being a creative spirit, SoKo also uses fashion to express herself. Her favorite clothing store in Los Angeles is the Rose Bowl Flea Market the 2nd Sunday of every month – perfect because she only byes vintage clothes. The shoes at Mishka are also a favorite. She says that her mood dictates how stupidly silly she is going to dress every day. It changes a lot but lately she has been feeling very much like a punk!

What is the craziest experience you had living in Los Angeles? - Craziest experience was going on a blind date with Robert Pattinson. That was pretty weird... Being a big fan of social media like the rest of us, Soko wants us to check out these three people on Instagram: @adorable_animals, @amanda:charchian and @gublergram. And this wouldn’t be a 2min interview without a little secret! - My middle finger on my right hand is absolutely totally crooked weird.
