She is a member of the National Honor Society, where she serves as the Historian. She is a mentoring in the Student Success mentoring program and is ranked in the top 10% of her high school class. She also participates in her high school choir, dance troupe and theatre group. In addition to her activities in school Joi is also actively involved in Delta Gems sponsored by the Phoenix Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., Girl Scouts and is a member of Tanner Chapel A.M.E. Church. Outside of school, public service is an essential part of Joi’s life. She is actively involved in her community. She has volunteered registering participants for the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, visited Senior Centers at Christmas time, worked at the Saint Mary’s Food Bank, planted trees in neighborhoods to beautify the area, fed the homeless, has packed boxes for Haiti, cleaned schools in a disadvantage school district, was a personal shopper for disadvantage youth (for school supplies)and collected, packaged and delivered toiletries to the homeless. Joi is currently developing a “Surviving Bullying Program� for elementary age students. Upon graduation from high school, Joi plan to attend Spelman College, where she will major in Theatre with a minor in Business.
