Welcome to Linnie Blooms! The very first memory I have of feeling the thrill of being creative was when I was about 10 years old. I was at my one and only friend’s house and we decided to play “I Dream of Jeanie”. Of course, since she had beautiful long, silky blonde hair, she got to be Jeanie, which left me as Nelson. So, to make myself feel better about pretending to be the guy, I told her I had to have a suit jacket. So we rummaged through her mom’s fabric and proceeded to use her mom’s sewing machine to create a man’s suit jacket. I don’t really think it turned out (since we had zero experience in sewing), but in my mind all I recall is how much fun the possibility of creating something from nothing was. And here I am 40 years later, still preferring to make up my own designs instead of following a pattern. I don’t try to take the hard route, but somehow that’s always been my way. I became a PC consultant for a large, local bank not because of any degree, but because I taught myself on the job. When my girls were in grade school I was the Girl Scout leader, organizer and trainer to others. And as if that wasn’t enough, I enjoyed five years as the day camp director. When I decided to leave the corporate world to be at home with my girls, I became an Image Consultant with BeautiControl. I loved the freedom of self-employment and learned so much about the direct sales industry. Years later I sold Avon and then took a step back to my creative love by becoming a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. Then my husband and I built a scrapbooking retreat in central Wisconsin. The past few years I’ve been on the fast track to solidifying my creative mission. While owning my own mixed media retail and consignment shop this past year, I developed my very own line of products. I’ve incorporated canvas and fabric into my artwork for years and finally realized that I need to share all of it with you! The best way for you to become familiar with my products is hands-on. This is why I teach my Creative Reps regularly on how to create beautiful pieces of art using my products and the mixed stitch concept. The “Mixed Stitch” Concept My crafting interests have always been diverse. I love crochet, sewing, paper crafting, scrapbooking, card making, painting and more! Now, that doesn’t mean that I’m great at all of these, but I love them and projects that incorporate them. So, when I decided to design my own products, I knew they had to be products that provide me with this type of variety. Anyone that has seen me create, knows that I’m not very detailed, so my work with fabric reflects that. But, by using Linnie Blooms products I can have the completed project “look” like I did some awesome work while not actually doing any sewing at all. So, if you are like me and you love the look of fabric in your projects but aren’t great at sewing, you are going to LOVE my products! Likewise, if you are gifted and talented in working with fabric, you too are going to love my products as a base for your next project! You will learn how to incorporate some craftiness and new mediums into your fabric projects! One of my best examples is this “no sew” project I created. You start out Design by Cheryl Dossey with one of my long blanks and with some coloring of my shapes and textures, you put it all together without any sewing! Now, if you like to sew, you are more than welcome to, but, it isn’t necessary to get the same look! I hope you will consider hosting or attending a Linnie Blooms Workshop so that one of our Creative Reps can teach you just how easy accomplishing a mixed stitch project really is!
Linnie Blooms Cares When I envisioned the type of company I wanted to run, I knew that I wanted to include a community service element. There are many, many worthy opportunities out there for giving back, so I really had to dig deep into my heart to determine which one resonated with me. A couple years ago I discovered the beautiful world of Brave Girls Club. Owned and operated by sisters Kathy Wilkins and Melody Ross, this duo really knows how to make a difference in the world. I have participated in many of their offerings and can tell you firsthand that their hearts are in the right place. One of their amazing projects is called the Truth Card Exchange. I believe that this project is something every artist, crafter or enthusiast can easily accomplish and feel great about participating in. Our Environment In addition to striving to help those in need, Linnie Blooms is also a very “green” company. Many recycled products are used in our manufacturing process. For instance, many of our canvas “blanks” are filled with recycled book paper and our scrapbook pages are filled with recycled calendars. I believe in reuse and recycling as much as possible when it makes sense.
