expand

contract

Using the same principles of human breathing, LungScreen employs an array of modules inspired by origami that expand and contract to modulate the volume of an air cavity. Upon expansion, the sudden increase in volume creates a vacuum in the cavity, inhaling fresh air, which is redirected to the interior. Upon contraction, the decrease in volume causes the system to exhale, forcing air back out. This creates a continuous cycle of air exchange and a dynamic facade.
