The Lenten Journey Many people think of Lent as a time to give something up. That’s A-OK by us. This year, though, we challenge you to take on something new. The spiritual discipline of prayer is about changing your relationship with God. What you will likely find as you strengthen your relationship with God through prayer is that it impacts how you relate to the world. We have prepared this Resource Guide to encourage you to delve deeper into your prayer life. To help support you on this journey, we’ve gathered a number of activities - small group study, Lenten hikes, opportunities to serve, prayer stations and more. The last page of this booklet shows the complete Lenten Schedule. We invite you to join us for any of the activities, gatherings and worship services that are prepared for Lent. For more information, a complete schedule, and links to the resources listed in this guide, please visit LCRmarietta.org/LENT. The Adult Faith Formation team invites you to open yourself up to the ways your relationship with God can grow and how that relationship can change your day-to-day life.

“The function of prayer is not to influence God, rather to change the nature of the one who prays.” -Soren Kierkegaard

Small Group Study This year we are participating in the ELCA’s “World Hunger’s 40 Days of Giving” educational series. Each weekly session includes prayer, scripture, devotion from an ELCA leader, group activity, ministry stories and discussion. These short, daily readings will help us to reflect on hunger, hope and God’s love in a world of both abundance and need. Devotionals available for pick-up in the Sanctuary Lobby on February 7.
