ArtNexus / Arte en Colombia One of the reasons that drove us to launch the magazine in 1976 was the lack, both in Colombia and in Latin America, of specialized media covering the visual arts. We were clear from the start it would be a challenging endeavor. Thirty-five years later, we have achieved the publication a leading international magazine, with the participation of a prestigious, rigorous, and well-informed editorial staff, comprised of outstanding critics, historians, and curators. Its original name, Arte en Colombia, came about to fulfill a local need. Soon we realized how necessary a visual arts publication was for Latin America. Slowly, the magazine reached a wider public through its participation in art fairs and international events. In 1991 Arte en Colombia began to be published with the name of ArtNexus with the slogan “The nexus between Latin America and the rest of the world,” ArtNexus became, in its two editions—English and Spanish—an international publication. Since 2001, ArtNexus.com has also allowed us to offer additional services such as making available all the texts from the past eleven years at no cost, as well as an index of all that has been published in the past 35 years. The website has over 150,000 registered emails who receive press releases and ArtNexus newsletters. The newest project, which intends to continue our legacy, is the ArtNexus Foundation, which runs a Documentation Center, with more than 13,500 titles available to the public, indexed under the S.I.A.B.U.C. system, and accessible online. After 35 years, our main objective is to constitute ourselves as a leading source of information and a major supporter of international visual arts.
