No shortage of ideas for school name bcmanion@lakerlutznews.com

Pasco County School Board members have plenty of names to consider for Elementary W, a new school set to open in Wesley Chapel in August. Forty-one names have been submitted for the board’s consideration. It is scheduled to vote on the issue at its March 15 meeting at 6 p.m. Several of the names are variations on the same name. For instance, there are three variations for a school to be named after the Godwin family, or a member of the family — a family with deep roots in the Wesley Chapel area. There’s also a couple of suggestions relating to the Porter family, one being Porter Elementary and the other, Porter Ranch Elementary. And, there’s a suggestion for

There are also suggestions to name the school after the nation’s current president Barack Obama Elementary, or to call it Challenger Elementary, in honor the 30th anniversary of the Space Shuttle See NAME, page 11A

Local couple shares passion for fossils By B.C. Manion bcmanion@lakerlutznews.com

Seina Searle will never forget the first time she and her husband, Mike, went to what was then called Fossil Fair. “We walked around with our jaws open,” Seina said. They were in awe of what fossil hunters could find in Florida. The Searles had already begun their amateur quest to find old bits of bone and teeth in a desire to learn more about Florida’s prehistoric past, but when they got to Fossil Fair, she said, they were blown away by the possibilities. That was 1993, and the Searles immediately joined the Tampa Bay Fossil Club. Flash forward 23 years. Mike is now president of the club, which boasts around 600 members and Seina is on the board of directors. She’s coordinating a team of about 140 volunteers for the 29th annual Tampa Bay Fossil Fest, set for this coming weekend at the Florida State Fairgrounds. They hope the event will spark an interest in others that will lead them to join a community devoted to unearthing clues about the creatures that roamed the earth millions of years ago. The couple’s passion for fossils is obvious. An entire room in their Lutz home is filled with shelves of fossils they’ve found while diving in rivers and exploring mines. They have stuff in their garage and out back, too. There’s one section in their fossil room devoted to finds from vacations to Nebraska to go fossil-hunting.They’ve made the trip 19 times and are planning to go there again this year. Their passion has evolved through the years, Mike said.

At first, they just wanted to find stuff, he said. “Then we wanted to find good stuff. Then, we wanted to find the most stuff,” he said.

“Sometimes you get wrapped up in what the value of your collection is worth and what you find. We’ve completely gone through all of those emotions. Now, our goal is to find stuff that’s scientifically valuable, that will help unravel the picture of what was in Florida,” he said. Seina is fascinated by what Florida was like millions of years ago. “It was a lot like Africa now,” she said. “You had the mammoths. Mastodons. Rhinoceros. Huge Bears. Lions.” There were armadillos the size of Volkswagens, Mike said. Seina has had a penchant for unearthing buried treasures since her childhood. “I always loved archeology as a kid. I was always digging in the backyard, hoping to find something. I always had that interest,” Seina said. See FOSSILS, page 11A

Pasco County is real estate ready By Kathy Steele

ksteele@lakerlutznews.com

The real estate market in Pasco County is thriving. And, evidence of that was on display at “Meet the Developers: The Future of Real Estate.” The annual breakfast meeting, hosted by the Pasco Economic Development Council, brought together developers, real estate brokers, investors and community leaders at the Residence Inn on March 2. Four examples of Pasco’s current and future development initiatives were highlighted: Compark 75, Starkey Ranch, Connected City and the Duke Energy Site Readiness Program. Compark 75 defied conventional wisdom that building on speculation in the midst of an economic meltdown would be a bad idea. The initial developer in 2008 abandoned the project. But, Larry Morgan of HR Pasco LLC, and Ross Kirk, of KVR Development LLC, joined forces as owner and developer, respectively, to take on the challenge. The industrial park is next to Interstate 75, about halfway between State Road 54 and State Road 56 interchanges. Suncoast Parkway is 12 miles to the west. The Tampa North Aero Park is along Compark 75’s northern boundary. In 2014, a $15 million expansion of the industrial park broke ground. It was the first major investment in commercial office construction in Florida since the 2008 recession. More expansion is under way, with the ongoing construction of a new 65,000square-foot building. It will be the fifth building at the 165-acre site. Every building has gone vertical without signed tenants. But, the park is nearly filled to 100 percent capacity. Plans also are are under way for a new building that can be designed as a multistory office, or built-out for light industrial or manufacturing. “As fast as we can build them, we are finding quality companies to go in them,” said Heidi Tuttle-Beisner, a broker with Commercial Asset Partners Realty who handles leasing for the park. Starkey Ranch is a master-planned com-

munity of more than 5,500 homes under development by Wheelock Communities in Odessa, off State Road 54. Groundbreaking on the first model homes took place in 2014. Homes are now selling in Whitfield Park. The welcome center opened in spring. And,Taylor Morrison anticipates a grand opening in April for its model home center for the Esplanade subdivision at Starkey Ranch. The interest in the ranch is evident in the 2,400 visitors on average who click onto the community’s website each week, said Matt Call, project director for Starkey Ranch/Wheelock Communities. Interest also is high on the proposed business park and retail sites planned at State Road 54 and Gunn Highway. Call said announcements would be made

on an anchor grocery store, likely in June. And, an apartment complex also is coming at that location, with an announcement expected soon. “We’ve had a lot of interest in this opportunity,” Call said. A one-of-a-kind gigabit community and a crystal lagoon are the centerpiece attractions for Metro Development’s “connected city” corridor. State lawmakers created a special development district for about 7,800 acres in central and eastern Pasco County as a 10-year pilot program. Interstate 75, State Road 52, Curley Road and Overpass Road border the district. Development in the district will be able to bypass the typical state reviews in favor of local control in the hands of Pasco County commissioners.

Metro Development is developing masterplanned communities on the former Epperson Ranch within the special district. One town center feature will be a 7-acre man-made swimming pool, known as a crystal lagoon. “We want that to be integrated into the community,” said Kartik Goyani, vice president of operations for Metro Development. But, Metro Development also will create the first planned gigabit community, or Connected City, in the nation. Residents and business owners will live, work and play in an environment linked by Ultra Fi, a broadband system with speeds so fast that photos can be downloaded in seconds, not minutes. Assistance in its development will come from US Ignite, a nonprofit group founded by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the National Science Foundation. Future development on property adjacent to Zephyrhills Municipal Airport is getting a boost from Duke Energy through the Duke Energy Site Readiness Program. In 2015, Duke Energy representatives worked with the city of Zephyrhills on a study of about 440 undeveloped acres around the airport. The site is centrally located in Florida, and is in proximity to such highways as State Road 54, I-75 and Interstate 4. In addition, there is the bonus of a CSX rail line in the area. Duke Energy has reviewed nearly 190 sites in six states in the southeast during the past 10 years. Information from these reviews serves as a guide for local communities that want to create pad-ready sites for development. One obstacle is expansion of the site’s wastewater capacity at an estimated cost of $1.7 million, said Danielle Ruiz, economic development manager for Duke Energy. However, she said tax revenues from the Penny for Pasco program could provide funds for this project. Pasco County recently launched a revolving loan program, with up to $15 million available to make sites pad-ready or to build shell buildings for potential industrial, manufacturing or flex-space. The deadline to submit proposals to the county is April 11.

New Insider Report Reveals How to Get Your Asking Price When Selling Your Wesley Chapel Home WESLEY CHAPEL - When you decide to sell your home, setting your asking price is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Depending on how a buyer is made aware of your home, price is often the first thing he or she sees, and many homes are discarded by prospective buyers as not being in the appropriate price range before they're even given a chance of showing. Your asking price is often your home's "first impression", and if you want to realize the most money you can for your home, it's imperative that you make a good first impression. This is not as easy as it sounds, and pricing strategy should not be taken lightly. Pricing too high can be as costly to a homeseller as pricing too low. Taking a look at what homes in your neighborhood have sold for is only a small part of the process, and on it's

own is not nearly enough to help you make the best decision. A recently study, which compiles 10 years of industry research, has resulted in a new special report entitled "Homesellers: How to Get the Price You Want (and Need)". This report will help you understand pricing strategy from three different angles. When taken together, this information will help you price your home to not only sell, but sell for the price you want. NATURE NOTES

Being safe in your garden By Nicole Pinson

Special to The Laker/Lutz News

Although we love spending time in our gardens, many things can harm us when we are working outside. So, it’s important to use precautions while we’re doing our garden chores. I know this from experience. Some plants, such as bougainvillea and pygmy date palms, have thorns that can puncture your hand or finger joints. The residual plant matter from the thorns can lead to an infection called thorn synovitis. I know this, because a thorn punctured my knuckle as I was pruning bougainvillea. My finger swelled, I lost range of motion and was in pain for weeks. Eventually, I had to see an orthopedic surgeon about the infection. Now, I always wear my gauntlet gloves when working with thorny plants. And, that’s just one of the hazards you can encounter while gardening. Here are some things to keep in mind to help you stay safe. • Protect yourself from sun exposure. Wear long sleeves and long pants, stay hydrated, stretch and take frequent breaks. Wide-brimmed hats and sunscreen afford more sun protection. • Read the labels of pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. The label is not only the law, but it also provides you important information about how to protect yourself with personal pro-

tective equipment and clothing, if needed. The label provides directions for use and environmental hazards such as minimizing exposure to nontarget organisms like honey bees. In addition, the label will provide information about re-entry periods or Preharvest intervals (PHI). A preharvest interval is the minimum amount of days that must be observed between the date of the last application of the pesticide and the date of harvest, which means you must wait that amount of days before you can harvest the fruit or vegetable. Another important piece of information is called APP, or the maximum number of applications allowed per crop per year. • Avoid stings Many of our native bees, wasps and flies are important pollinators and should be encouraged to visit your garden. However, some may sting when provoked, or when their nest is disturbed. To help avoid stings, don’t walk barefoot in the yard; keep sweet drinks and foods covered; pick fruit as it ripens and dispose of rotten fruit; move slowly, and don’t swat at bees or wasps that are foraging for food. It’s also a good idea to wear insect repellant, and avoid mowing the lawn or working in the garden when bees and wasps are active. • Prevent other bites and beware of poisonous plants You can protect yourself from stinging caterpillars, venomous snakes, biting spiders, mosquitoes and poisonous plants by not

handling something you cannot identify. Learn to recognize poisonous or venomous plants and animals — such as poison ivy and pygmy rattlesnakes. Keep your garden free of debris piles, weeds and standing water, too, to reduce hiding places and habitats. • Wear gloves Be sure to protect your hands when working with sphagnum moss and around plants with thorns. A fungus called Sporothrix schenckii can cause the disease sporotrichosis, also known as the rose gardener’s disease or rose thorn disease. This fungus can be found in sphagnum moss and peat moss, and may enter the body through cuts or skin punctures, causing lesions. This disease is rarely life-threatening and can be treated with antifungals, but gardeners should be aware of this potential threat when working with peat or sphagnum moss. • Look out, below It’s a good idea to find out what’s below ground before you begin digging. You can call Sunshine 811, a nonprofit organization that notifies utility companies where you plan to dig, so they can come out to your property and mark underground cables and pipes. This can protect you from potential damages and can help to keep you safe. This process usually takes a few days, so call well in advance of your project. Of course, these are just a few tips to help you along. If you are injured or suspect you’ve been

bitten by a venomous snake or spider, call 911. If you or someone you know has ingested a poisonous plant, call the Florida Poison Information Center at (800) 222-1222. And, if you have other questions, or need help identifying a plant or an insect, call your local Extension office. Nicole Pinson is an Urban Horticulture Agent in Hillsborough County. She gratefully acknowledges Gerri Almand, UF/IFAS Extension Hillsborough County Master Gardener, for her help in preparing this article. The Light Ahead By Trinity Memorial Gardens It is not length of life, but depth of life. ~Emerson Ralph Waldo

Q. Why is cremation so popular today? Cremation is a choice of final disposition, and is coupled with other considerations to celebrate one’s life, such as memorial services and property selection. The short and easy answer is people’s perception that cremation is less expensive than full-body burials. However, another reason for the rising popularity of cremation is the cultural change that has occurred since the 1970’s in our country. For most of our history, we have been a faith-based society, and whether or not we practiced our religion, nearly everyone had the influence of parents of faith, and attended, in some measure, religious services. That ingrained faith precluded many from even considering cremation, as it was discouraged by various faiths. As our society has drifted to a more secular viewpoint, the actual choice of cremation has become acceptable in most cases.

The Cremation Society of North America’s website features some history of cremation. To summarize in brief, cremation was prevalent in the times before Christ, excepting those of Jewish faith. Then, when the age of Christianity arose, ground burial and entombment of the full body became the norm. In the late 1800’s however, cremation began to spring to life in Europe, and eventually has become the preference of many. Sadly, one consequence of those who select cremation is the common practice of no memorialization. Interestingly, there are many alternatives for those choosing cremation to wonderfully memorialize their loved ones for future generations. In recent years, glass front niches have become a popular choice, as it allows families to view the urn and mementos of their loved one, and we are weeks away from opening our new niche chapel.

Other suggestions call for naming it for people who have contributed to community life, education or society. Those include naming it for: Dave Estabrook, a retired educator; Greta L. Adams, a retired educator; Harriet Hemenway, a founder of what would go on to become the National Audubon Society; Heather Fiorentino, former superintendent of Pasco County Schools; the late Mike Olson, former county tax collector; Sandra and Max Ramos, retired educators; the late Wendell Krinn, former principal of Ridgewood High; and Susan Jordan, the Indiana educator who died while pushing children out of the way of a speeding school bus. A couple suggestions submitted — Dempsey Elementary and Nancy Browning Elementary — were not accompanied by any details.

EXPAND, from page 1A Besides providing care for patients, the center also wants to be a community resource, Brown said. It has an internship program involving 15 students who are attending Saint Leo University or Pasco-Hernando Jameson Norton State College, Brown said. The center is also planning to offer more continuing education courses to area professionals.

Some submissions suggest giving the school a name it could live up to, such as Acceleration Elementary, or Bright Future Elementary, or Growth Elementary, or Hope Elementary, or Love Elementary, or New Horizons Elementary, or Unity Elementary, or Whole Child Elementary, or Wonderful Elementary, or World Change Elementary. One suggests Yankees Elementary. Another, Galaxy Elementary. Others want to name it after places, or at least to give it a name that sounds like a place. Those suggestions are Chapel Falls Elementary, Gatorville Elementary, Long Ranch Elementary, Mansfield Elementary, Meadow Pointe Elementary, Ridge Elementary, Wilderness Elementary and Woodside Elementary. Of course, board members could also come up with a few ideas of their own. The board meets at the school district’s office complex, Building No. 3 North at 7205 Land O’ Lakes Blvd., in Land O’ Lakes. “All of the administrators here have moved from somewhere, so they have a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and we want to bring that to the community. We’re building, as part of this, a state-ofthe-art teaching area, so people will be able to come in, and we’ll offer different CEU (Continuing Education Unit) trainings, different community events,” Brown said. The facility also aims to help raise awareness and increase understanding about mental health issues, both Brown and Norton said. “We all probably have a friend or a family member who are very affected by a mental health condition. It really takes that team effort to make sure that we can provide the best care possible,” Norton said.

Making History The Tampa Bay Rays will play an exhibition game against the Cuban National Team in Havana, Cuba on March 22. It will mark the first time since 1999 that an MLB club has visited the country. The Rays will fly to Cuba on March 20. The following day, they will stage a clinic before they finish their trip by playing the exhibition at the Estadio Latinoamericano in Havana. President Barack Obama expects to be in attendance.

2016 Tampa Bay Rays New additions: • Leftfielder Corey Dickerson • First baseman Logan Morrison • Outfielder/Infielder Steve Pearce • Catcher Hank Conger • Shortstop Brad Miller • Reliever Ryan Webb Key Returnees: • Starting pitcher Chris Archer • Starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi • Starting pitcher Drew Smyly • Third baseman Evan Longoria • Second baseman Logan Forsythe • Centerfielder Kevin Kiermaier

“Every team has injuries, but (staying healthy) definitely helps. It’s not realistic to say we’re going to be healthy for 162 games,” he said. As for improving in the win-loss column and possibly clinching a playoff berth, Cash acknowledges the responsibility to show progress falls square on his shoulders. That starts with properly handling tight situations late in games. “We’ve got to find a way to win close ball games. We play a lot of close ball games, and as a manager, it goes back to putting your players in a position to succeed in the eighth and ninth innings, and extra-inning games,” he explained.“That’s going to be a focal point for me personally—to have some questions and try to get a read on the guys, and how they feel in those situations better.”

Standout catcher paces Wiregrass Ranch softball By Kevin Weiss kweiss@lakerlutznews.com

From her powerful bat to her leadership behind the plate, Kameron Aitken’s talent is evident the moment she steps on the Wiregrass Ranch softball field. So evident, in fact, that several major instate universities—South Florida, Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast and North Florida — showed interest in the junior catcher last season. Aitken opted to verbally commit to Florida International University (FIU) in Miami on Dec. 1, 2015 — after visiting the campus on an unofficial visit and quickly realizing the school “just felt like home.” “I felt like I could go to the team and be welcomed right away,” Aitken said about choosing FIU, a Division I school.“I had been looking at it for two years. The coaches made me feel like that’s where I wanted to be.” A varsity softball player at Wiregrass Ranch since her freshman year,Aitken broke out as a sophomore, batting .379 with 17 doubles and 39 RBIs. “I’m a lot stronger player now than I was my freshman year,”Aitken said about her de-

PITCHER STRIKES OUT 19 Academy at the Lakes’ junior pitcher Darin Kilfoyl struck out 19 batters in a 7-0 complete game, one-hit shutout against Victory Christian on March 3.The 6-foot-8inch right-hander has a 1.62 ERA through three appearances as of March 3. Through seven games, the Wildcats have already matched their total of three wins from last season.

velopment.“I’ve learned to recognize pitches better.” Through 10 games this year, the slugger is picking up right where she left off, batting .379 with a team-leading two home runs and 13 RBIs. “She’s a big, strong girl.A very intelligent player,” said Tyler Finn, assistant coach for Wiregrass Ranch.“Thank God we’re going to get her for another year.” Teammates describe Aitken, who bats cleanup, as a player that provides vocal leadership and contributes in critical moments of games. “Her offense is a big key. She really comes through in big situations,” said senior third baseman Tylah Remaley. “She is a clutch hitter, and gets those hits that you need that help you out in the end of games,” said junior second baseman Alexis Ridolph. “She pushes others. If you’re struggling, she’ll say,‘Hey, keep your head up, and just keep going,’” junior Samantha Hiley said. In addition to her hitting ability, Aitken provides a calming influence as a catcher, where she works closely with a young pitching staff that includes three freshmen.

“She has great leadership and is always communicating with her teammates,” said Wiregrass Ranch head coach Yamani Vazquez.“She’s a catcher, so she’s the brains of the operation. She’s what you would expect from a catcher, basically.” Coach Finn echoes Vazquez’s sentiment, calling Aitken a “tremendous, tremendous catcher.” “She’s been a catcher her whole life. She’s a leader behind the plate. She’s got a rocket arm that’s accurate,” the Wiregrass assistant explained. “She’s going to play Division I (softball) for a reason.” While Aitken is a natural playing softball, she is always trying to improve — even during the course of a ballgame. According to Vazquez, in a recent game, Aitken struggled in her first at-bat, and had her mother record the plate appearance so she could analyze her swing mechanics for her next time up to hit. As it turned out, Aitken figured out the problem. She had “dropped her shoulder” during her swing path. “I’ve never seen that — just trying to better yourself in the same game,” her head coach said.

Wiregrass Ranch junior catcher Kameron Aitken is one of the top players in Pasco.

Aitken’s willingness to correct mistakes on her own—and handle it with a positive attitude—is what makes her special, Vazquez added. “She has that drive. She has that intrinsic drive that you can’t really teach,” he explained.“It comes from just knowing what you want and knowing your goals. And that’s what she has going on. She has that intrinsic drive to get better more than anyone else on this team, I would say.”

hether you’re looking for a place to entertain the kids, want to take out-of-town visitors to a unique attraction or have a penchant for history — chances are you’ll find much to enjoy at Heritage Village in Pinellas County. The village is a collection of 31 historic structures and features, some dating back to the 19th century. Children and adults alike can meander through the pine and palmetto flatwoods to get a glimpse of buildings where people lived, shopped, worked, worshipped and had fun. It’s a place which offers children a chance to let their imaginations run wild, and where visitors of all ages can find out all sorts of interesting facts about the region’s history. The 21-acre site boasts everything from buildings that were spared from destruction to reproductions of iconic structures. There are interior exhibits, too, showcasing Florida’s role in agriculture, tourism and other industries. Visitors can drop in at H.C. Smith Groceries, to check out a 1915-era grocery store. Out back, there’s a restored service garage. The Sulphur Springs train depot has a prominent spot, and there’s old railcar, too. The depot was moved from a community on the north side of Tampa and is typical of early railroad depots. It is the only structure brought to the village from outside of Pinellas County. The Williams Park Bandstand in the village is a replica of a structure originally built in 1894. It’s a popular spot for gatherings and on one recent afternoon, children were racing across the bandstand’s floors, laughing and playing. The village also is home to Safford Pavilion, built in Tarpon Springs around 1896 in the Cycadia Cemetery, east of U.S. 19.The pavilion was constructed to honor Anson K. Safford, a former territorial governor of Arizona and an important early pioneer of Tarpon Springs. Other points of interest include a boiling shed, a sugar cane mill, two schools, several wood-frame homes, a church, a sponge warehouse and some cottages. There are rocking chairs on porches, inviting visitors to sit down and relax, and there are displays which spur memories of previous generations or invite conversations about what life was like decades ago. A historical placard near the 1½-story log cabin built by James and Elizabeth McMullen tells of the family’s cattle business and other ventures. “The cattle ended up on dinner plates throughout the South and even Cuba,” the sign says.“By 1869, the family manufactured syrup barrels and held sugarcane grinding parties.” Visitors to the village can peek into homes that are outfitted with vintage furnishings. There’s also an outhouse, a smoke house and a barn filled with wagons. The boat shop is a recent addition to the village and it seemed to be a popular place one recent afternoon. There’s also a nature path —the Shirley

B.C. MANION/STAFF PHOTOS

The only structure at Heritage Village that came from outside of Pinellas County was this railroad depot, which was originally in Sulphur Springs, a small community on the north side of Tampa. It’s from around the 1920s.

Railroading played an important role in the development of Florida. Before railroads came to Pinellas, settlers traveled by foot, buggy, on horseback or by boat. The state’s first railroad ended at Cedar Key, nearly 100 miles north of the Pinellas Peninsula. In the 1880s, Russian immigrant Peter Demens launched his Orange Belt Railway in Pinellas and Henry Plant brought his railroad to Tampa, according to information on the Heritage Village website.

This service station, behind H.C. Smith Groceries, is set up to look like a working garage in a previous era.

McPherson Native Plant Trail — which meanders through a pine flatwood habitat. And, for those who would prefer a bigger nature show, the Florida Botanical Gardens, at 12520 Ulmerton Road, is right next door. Neither attraction charges admission. Visit PinellasCounty.org to find out more.

H.C. Smith Groceries, was built in 1915 and originally stood on the southeast corner of Sixth Avenue and Fifth Street South in St. Petersburg. The store served as a grocery and meat market.

This typical Florida ‘Cracker’ log cabin, was built around 1852 by Capt. James Parramore McMullen near Clearwater. It is said to be the oldest structure in Pinellas County.

Lionel needs special care Lionel is a 10-year-old sweetheart. He loves attention and just wants to be by your side. He requires a very special adopter. Not only is this little guy a senior, but he has hyperthyroidism and would require medical attention. If you have it in your heart to adopt Lionel, come visit him. Fridays are always $5 Feline Friday, and $15 other weekdays through March.

John Draper snapped this photo in his backyard of what he thinks looks like a cross between a northern white tailed and the smaller Florida deer. It was relatively small in stature, and not much bigger than a Great Dane. Draper thought it was unusual for a Florida buck to have antlers. Draper lives on Parkway Boulevard in Land O’ Lakes.

PET of the WEEK

Talkative and playful Chigg was a stray kitten that begged to be brought inside a warm home on a rare, freezing cold winter night. He is talkative and playful, and an avid eater! He loves hunting anything that moves: strings, bugs, lasers, and the older cat, Gerard. Chigg is especially adept at catching silverfish in the house. He likes to drink from the bathroom faucet, hide in a laundry basket and grab passersby through the slots, squeeze into cardboard boxes too tiny for him, and sleep on his back like a human. He also likes to pounce on plastic grocery bags and make lots of noise. Chigg resides in Zephyrhills with Emily and Jeff Fox.

Snuggle up with Pumpkin This happy boy will definitely brighten your days. Not only is he extremely handsome, he is also smart. This brilliant pup is house-trained, and he knows how to sit and give his paw. Mullet loves meeting new people and seems to do well with other dogs. It doesn’t get much better than that! His adoption fee is only $20 this month.

If you would like to adopt either Lionel or Mullet, be sure to visit Pasco County Animal Services at 19640 Dogpatch Lane in Land O’ Lakes. All adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip and vaccines. For more information, email adoptionpartners@pascocountyfl.net.
