aroma fills your nose with the fragrance of the thyme, rosemary and sabine which carpet the hills. Island villages offer an authentic lifestyle, far from the crowds but with access to the necessities of modern life in a stripped-back, quiet, relaxing atmosphere. In Santa Gertrudis, Sant Carles and Sant Joan, for example, you can forget the world and re-encounter your true self in an activity as simple as sitting outside on a terrace listening to pealing of church bells while thumbing through a newspaper or sipping a glass of Ibizan “frígola” liqueur. In these villages life is on a human scale. Personal relationships are still the sincere and friendly exchanges of good neighbours. Even the traffic seems bearable and good tempered.
