BETTER FOR

MALLOW With Minister Seán Sherlock TD

Sherlock announces Relief Road for Mallow I am delighted to announce that the Relief Road for Mallow Town has been approved for inclusion on the Capital Investment Programme. I am delighted that, as Minister, this is happening on my watch. I have worked hard over the last five years to bring this project to the starting blocks. It is a source of great personal satisfaction that the Government, of which I am part of, recognises the need for this vital piece of infrastructure. This a is a vital piece of infrastructure that will alleviate heavy traffic flows through the town centre, it also paves the way to accommodate the massive increase in heavy goods traffic that will come with the expansion of milk production at the Dairygold site.

I want to thank everybody who has helped us along the way. The business case, made by Jim Woulfe of Dairygold and John McDonnell of Mallow Development Partnership, made my interaction with my Ministerial colleagues, Paschal Donohue and Brendan Howlin, far easier. Following this announcement, we now have to look at the issue of ensuring that planning permission gets over the line. Work on that has already begun. The €27 Billion Capital Plan will deliver on important infrastructure project that will directly impact Mallow residents and businesses. This will create jobs for Mallow and North Cork. This will sustain and drive on our local economy at all levels.
