Leadership Qualities - the Defining Qualities of efficient Leadership Leadership Qualities - the Identifying Qualities of Effective Direction What are these qualities? Allow me to lay it out certainly. For starters, successful leaders are . . . 1. Humble 2. Critical 3. 4. Empathetic 5. Disciplined 6. Great communicators (they communicate the plan certainly and efficiently) 7. Honest and unprejudiced Successful leaders . . .

8. 9. Surround themselves with folks brighter than they're 10.

11. Admit that they're infallible and acknowledge mistakes when they make them 12. Have a burning urge to really make a difference . . . a positive difference What exactly are these four uncompromising qualities of effective leadership? 1. 2. Acknowledge mistakes when you make people. Take corrective actions, learn from them, and move on 3. Make the most of the capacity of your people and 4. Be selfless. Serve your people and your organization. Abhor personal gain. The desire for private gain will colour your judgment and will ultimately lead you to the path of failure. To illustrate, consider what occurred recently in the company where I work. I work for an international beverage firm with origins in the UK, as I write this. I'm in one of the offices in West Africa. My institution's cocoa based beverage drink has about 50% share of the nation 's entire hot chocolate based beverage market. Certainly, it was a large operation. Some two years back, my institution's CEO as well as the finance manager were fired. Why? Over statement of company accounts. The company wasn't doing nicely. Instead of telling his managers so, the CEO . . . with the cooperation of the finance director . . . Controlled with the accounts to make the company appear good and so, keep his place as CEO. This situation went on for around three successive years before the fraud was detected by external auditors. That episode resulted in a loss to the business of over $116 million U.S. dollars. And investors have been told they should not expect dividends for the following two years. The CEO was a young gifted fellow who had been CEO of the firm for more than a decade. So, what went wrong? What took CEO down? 1. The desire for personal gain, greater acclaim, and greater visibility. 2. Arrogance. He refused to acknowledge he was wrong and wind down generation to match demand and market opportunities (He had a vision to make the firm a billion dollar business by year 2010. He called this . . . Job marathon). He refused to slow down production when the market was not growing as fast as generation was growing. The factories kept on creating at break neck speed and also the firm kept on acquiring more warehouses to keep what was made that could not be accommodated by the market) 3. He surrounded himself with 'yes men' - managers who were at his mercy . . . Directors who stood

by and watched while shareholders' life investment went down the drain Make no mistake about it. No matter how good you now are, no matter how intelligent you might be, no matter how Leadership communication skills many awards you've won, you may fail eventually if you're not a selfless leader. Recall all the leadership qualities discussed previously. But no matter what you do, do not forget the four leadership qualities that are most important. You will be a great leader. Successful leadership is within your reach. It begins by understanding leadership qualities you desire essential for effective leadership. these aspects could be learned. And . . . This really is your big opportunity.
