Myoelectric Signal can control hand motion. wrist can rotate 360° or so, and elbow can extend and flex ¾ Myoelectric Signals can’t be changed, may add passive switch change ¾ Shoulder joint disarticulation, Middle, short stumps of Upper arm Two electrodes: used for opening/closing of hand, rotation of wrist and flexion/extension of elbow 1. Turn the power on. 2. Touching one electrode opens/closes the hand. Contract the muscle to see that the open/close fuction works. 3. You will hear a repeated beep sound every second. This indicates to the user that the hand is in either the hand or wrist functional mode. (option: this is for training purpose only as a reminder to the patient that they are in one mode. This can be removed after the patient gets used to the device. You can cut the wire that creates the sound, which is the wire that ends up on a black connector, which is actually the sound speaker) 4. Touching both electrode simultaneously with quick muscle contraction switches the control from the hand to the wrist 5. During the switching mode, you will hear a long "beep" sound about 2 seconds long. That indicates that you have successfully switched the function from hand to the wrist and vice versa. 6. "Beep" sound is for training purpose only to remind the patient that he is switching the functional mode from hand to wrist and vice versa. This option can be removed once the patient is confident with the fuction of the prosthesis. Option: Instead of touching two electrodes simulataneously to switch the control from hand to wrist to elbow, a button can be used. Pressing the green button will perform the same function as touching both electrodes simulataneously Option: Lamination anchor at the elbow or above the elbow. 1. At the elbow 2. Above the elbow - allows for manual rotation of the elbow.
