Laara WilliamSen

Born in New Westminster, B.C., Canada in 1946, I grew up surrounded by the beauty of nature and the changing seasons in the Lower Fraser Valley. As early as four years, I remember being praised for my small drawing of a lamb. I knew very early on that I wanted to be a painter and a poet. I have been very fortunate to have had many students, awards and sales. My painting, writing, performing have sustained me throughout my life. I create in the moment following the process and allowing for changes to evolve. This is true of my painting, writing and improvisational drama. I believe the core of my creativity has evolved from my experiences of nature as a child. Today, I still feel amazement at the power of a seed, the force of the wind, the never ending cycle of the ocean's tides.
