f Cheverny Castle had a memory, it would almost be perfect. The castle, which sits in France’s Loire Valley, is extremely well preserved, boasting rooms whose interiors have been furnished to reflect the past with a high degree of detail and care. From a tea setladen table, complete with tarts and cakes, to a toy-filled nursery, the residence gives a glimpse into noble life from 1624 (the year in which construction began). The finest room in the house, the King’s Chamber, features beautiful paintings by Jean Monnier from the 1640s, while the Arms Room contains a 17th-century Gobelin tapestry. The castle’s exterior is just as elegant as its interior, with the kennels of the hunting dogs being a particularly popular attraction.
