The committee for enterprises in sustainable development, otherwise known as tedd (La Table des entreprises en développement durable), was established in 2013 and has enabled companies to come together to discuss the most important challenges linked to sustainable development. The tedd group gathers over thirty BromeMissisquoi enterprises that contribute to maintaining 5000 jobs from all lines of work, from excellence niches to industrial sectors within the MRC. In 2014, the tedd launched its BromeMissisquoi Industrial Symbiosis project which consisted in creating an inventory of its members’ industrial activities (input— output inventory) in order to evaluate the feasibility of seeing one’s residual materials become the other’s primary materials. Ever since then, the tedd has come to be a place for exchanging expertise, contacts, residual materials and much more.

These exchanges, referred to as synergies, generate financial and resource savings, divert material away from landfills, consolidate jobs in Brome-Missisquoi, and especially empower a broad network of actors who play an important part in sustainable development. Projects developed by the tedd, such as the symbiosis project, operationalize industrial ecology by linking the flow of materials and also by giving an added value to the region. Finally, it is with great pleasure that the members of the tedd present the strategic plan which will be effective for the next four years.
