Charlie Weis, Jr.

St udent manage r | f i r st se ason Charlie Weis, Jr., is entering his first season as a student manager with the Kansas football program. Weis, a sophomore at KU, will work alongside assistant coaches Reggie Mitchell and Ron Powlus and the Jayhawk running backs and quarterbacks.

Weis, Jr., transferred to KU after spending the 2011 fall semester in a similar capacity at the University of Florida. In his semester at UF, Weis, Jr., worked as the quality control intern for head coach Will Muschamp. He worked primarily with the Gator wide receivers, as well as, relaying the offensive game plan from the offensive staff to the head coach.

receiver on the Warriors football team. He spent his first three years of high school at St. Joe High School in South Bend, Ind., where he served as a student assistant for the football team. In his role as student assistant, he broke down game film and assisted the staff with various responsibilities. In his spare time, Weis, Jr., is actively involved with Hannah and Friends, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults with special needs.

Weis, Jr., graduated from St. Pius X High School in Kansas City, Mo., in 2011 prior to attending Florida. During his one season at St. Pius, he played wide

direc tor o f p e rson n el | s econ d s e ason Scott Johnston is entering his second season on the Kansas football staff. Johnston is in his first year as KU’s director of personnel, after spending the 2011 season as the Jayhawks’ on-campus recruiting coordinator.

As director of personnel, Johnston develops and executes all day-to-day recruiting operations for Kansas football. He is responsible for planning prospective student-athlete visits, both official and unofficial, and also assists in coordinating recruiting efforts and travel arrangements for assistant coaches and head coach Charlie Weis. Johnston came to KU after spending two years as the recruiting operations intern for football at Nebraska. Prior to that, he served as a student recruiting assistant

for the Cornhuskers. Johnston graduated from NU with a bachelor’s degree in biology in December 2008. A native of Papillion, Neb., Johnston was recently wed to Ashley Metzler.
