Get Fit For Life! Personal trainer Jade Parsons explains why you can never out-work a bad diet!

A

lot of people think going to the gym and doing a workout entitles them to eat whatever they want to. This is WRONG for lots of reasons! This is not healthy and you will not achieve your goals. If you eat bad food or too much food for what your body needs most of the time you will put on weight, there are acceptations to this but its usually the case. This happened to me when I was away in May, I went on holiday and during that time I worked out hard 8 days out of 12 and also did a lot of walking. I then choose to eat lots of burgers, chips, ice cream, cake, pizza and more. I had put on 10 pounds in weight in when I came back even though I was working out! I liked eating all those things and I was on holiday. I new what was going to happen but I had worked for it so didn’t mind at the time. This is not a good idea, as you will find it harder to burn the extra weight off each time you do this. I have burnt most of the extra fat off and I am back to my usual shape again but I have been very strict with my diet and exercise to get there, and it wasn’t easy! What you eat will influence your health, body shape and the way you feel. Yes having a workout on a regular

14

basis has lots of health benefits, but it can't erase any of the harmful effects of unhealthy foods and the results are not as visible. You also might not have the physical endurance to push through your workouts if you choose to eat foods that make you feel heavy or bloated. Weight loss is about calories in versus calories out. If your goal is to lose weight, you should look at the calories you’re burning on a daily basis and then try to aim for a calorie deficit by the end of the day. Unused carbohydrates will make you gain body fat. The aim when losing weight or staying the same weight with carbohydrates is to provide enough energy for the body, but no more! Eating habits are hard to break, even those who manage to change their bad eating habits can easily fall back during times of stress, (I’m craving a big American burger). If you give your self two weeks of eating better it becomes easier to do! I recommend doing it with someone else so you can help each other. One fall back and one bad meal wont wreck all your good work; you just need to have someone that can help you start again. Discover the secret of naturally beautiful skin with 100% organic SHEA BUTTER If you suffer from dry skin or cracked heels and nothing you’ve used helps then Shea Butter could do the trick.

S

hea butter is one of nature’s richest moisturisers. It has been traditionally used in Africa for centuries to keep skin soft and protected, and has long been coveted for its healing properties. It contains a rich amount of unremovable fatty acid which is crucial to rejuvenating and moisturizing the skin. Shea Butter provides all the essential vitamins needed to make skin look and feel smoother, softer and most importantly, healthier. Its therapeutic properties protect the skin from wind, cold, sun and it helps heal wounds faster. Shea Butter stimulates cellular activity, fights the effects of aging and repairs rough, damaged skin.

“I started advertising in Connection Magazine in April 2011 and the response has been tremendous! The phone calls have risen month on month and I now get on average 5 calls a week. This has made a big difference to my business. I could safely say that 20% of my work comes from the adverts with Connection.“ Motor Vehicle Services “In the first two years of being in Connection Magazine I have won jobs, directly from that advert, which amount to £20,000 of profit, not turnover, profit!” Carpet care plus “We have been advertising with Connection for around 7 years, we have found it a great way to advertise our offers and news from the salon and have gained a lot of clients through this. We often have clients comment on the fact that they see our adverts every month. The adverts always look fab and I would definitely recommend Connection to any local business looking to advertise!” Bliss Hair Salon

Legal Matters Have you considered what would happen to your digital assets when you die?

Y

our digital assets are essentially information and as such ownership does not pass to your Personal Representatives (PR’s) when you die. What does pass are any rights associated with the information. Part of the problem when dealing with digital information is that it does not have a physical form and can exist both on computers or in the cloud on devises connected to the Internet. Unfortunately, because information can exist other than on a computer device a PR will need to find out whether the deceased had any information stored in the cloud. They cannot hand computers to the beneficiaries as they may well contain an indication that such information exists. What needs to be done? 1. Find out whether there is any information stored in the cloud. This may require access to the computer files. 2. Identify any rights and obligations associated with that information. There may be only negative rights, for example for the deceased to prevent someone doing something ie. publishing a novel stored in digital form. However, the Personal Representative may be able to grant a licence to publish the novel and increase the assets of the estate. 3. Examine any service agreements relating to the use of the digital storage. Facebook, for example, reserves the right to use any content on your “page” unless deleted by you. What next? The Personal Representatives can distribute the rights. This is not straightforward as they will need access to the deceased’s account and if the

20

deceased had given his password to anyone during his lifetime then he may be guilty of an offence. One solution is to put with your Will or give your solicitor, a sealed envelope containing a list of your accounts, usernames and passwords, not to be opened until after your death and this should, in respect of an account governed by English law, be acceptable. The PR may also need to become a controller of the information under data protection legislation and as it is not the information but the rights associated with it that is important and those rights must be legally transferred to the beneficiary in the correct way. Next steps? If you would like to discuss this further then please do not hesitate to contact Nicola Dudley at PWT Advice LLP on 0845 833 9025 or 07900 931478 ndudley@pwtadvice.co.uk

Britain's Top Ten Beaches Woolacombe Bay, Devon The three miles of white sands, backed by rolling dunes, mean that even in the height of summer, it’s easy for visitors to find their very own bit to stretch out on. There’s plenty of space for games and y ou can explore Exmoor, or tackle a section of the South West Coast Path. Weymouth Beach, Weymouth, Dorset Weymouth's Georgian Esplanade is haven of simple pleasures. The town is the perfect jumping-off point for trips to explore the Jurassic Coast – a 95-mile strip of sandstone cliffs and fossil-rich prehistoric shoreline 185 million years in the making. Rhossili Bay, Rhossili, Swansea At the far end of the Gower Peninsular, it offers stunning views across north Devon in one direction and along three miles of Rhossili sands in the other. The views are endless, the beach rarely crowded. Better still, at low tide you encounter the timbers of Helvetia, wrecked here in 1887, jutting weirdly from the beach. St Brelade's Bay, Jersey A pink granite Church of St Brelade looks out across this bay from the western side, flanked by the ark-like Chapelle- ès-Pêcheurs, the Fishermen's Chapel. Families hang out at the vast, gently shelving sweep of sand backed by hotels, cafes and bucket-and-spade shops. The more energetic descend the long flight of steps to undeveloped Portelet, whose sand at low tide connects with an offshore islet. Porthminster Beach, St Ives, Cornwall A great family favourite, cleaned and raked daily, with a magnificent view

28

over St Ives Bay to Godrevy lighthouse. The beach shop rents everything you need for a day on the sands (loungers, windbreaks, buckets and spades). You can try the new sport of stand-up paddleboarding here. Perranporth Beach, Cornwall Sink a pint at the Ty Coch Inn, recently named among the best beach bars in the world. Fistral Beach, Newquay, Cornwall Newquay's beaches (there are 11 in all) are among the finest in Britain. Fistral is typically populated by teenagers and surfers. Visit the Eden Project, the world’s largest rainforest in captivity, or Newquay Zoo. Luskentyre, Isle of Harris, Scotland Hidden at the end of a winding road on the wild north-west coast of the Isle of Harris, this long stretch of sand is washed by shallow, startlingly azure water. Hengistbury Head, Bournemouth, Dorset Bournemouth's seven-mile, mainly sandy sweep, stretches from Alum Chine in the west to the scenic headland of Hengistbury Head. Explore the Dorset coast, famous for its spectacular scenery. Sandbanks, Poole, Dorset One of the UK's most exclusive addresses, Sandbanks is known as "millionares row" due to its number of harbour-front mansions. The beach is made up of golden sand and is gently sloping, so safe for children. The promenade has lots of facilities. Take a wonderful walk across the way on Brownsea Island, set spectacularly in the middle of Poole Harbour.
