Mozart: The Man and His Operas This course will explore the uncanny musical genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, his early childhood performances and writing, and we will explore all of the beauty and captivating story lines of all of his operatic works in both DVDs and CDs. Listening to the “magic of Mozart,” and learning more about his short life will make our class time together meaningful and help us gain proper respect for the amazing talent of this incredible composer. $99, 12 Hours D. Spirits of The Great American West This course has a primary focus on the The Great American West between the Mississippi River and the Great Divide from Canada to Mexico. It starts with theories of the original migrations and carries forward to the era of the great American cattle industry. It includes a look at the great and lesser personalities, events, cultures, and conflicts that opened the west to Anglo settlement. Using maps and classroom discussion, students will relive the excitement and tragedies that made the opening of the west one of the most memorable and exciting periods in world history. Course material changes each term so feel free to take this course multiple times!

The Founding Father’s Debate – Federalist and Anti-Federalist views The United States Constitution was created amid a great debate over choosing governmental

principles for the new nation. This course reviews the contrasting positions of that debate.

Anti-Federalist Letters, the Philadelphia Convention, state ratification conventions and the first Congress of 1789.

We will discuss the Constitution and its components, while examining key Federalist and AntiFederalist letters, as well as important political theories and principles which provided the foundation of the constitutional components.

Students will learn about early American political thinking and its relevance to contemporary issues. Course lead by Anita Alley.
