FREMONT BRIDGE: Completed in 1973, the Fremont Bridge is Portland's newest bridge over the Willamette River. It boasts the state's longest main span at 902 feet long, and is the second longest tied arch bridge in the world (after Caiyuanba Bridge across the Yangtze River,China). During construction, the span was floated by river, which made the Guinness Book of World Records for the heaviest lift at the time. Endangered Peregrine falcons frequently nest on the Fremont Bridge~Not only is the bridge known for its strength and endurance, but it also helps protect valuable resources for generations.
