If you are new to the center or had not been in the center for a while then don’t miss our

“Try Us Out” event the first Thursday of each month at 9:00am. Meet staff, ask questions and tour the center. Please remember to sign in at one of the kiosks for the events and programs you are attending in the center.

Foundation News

The Senior Foundation, Inc. – Johnson City would like to invite you to their Second Annual Frank Hawkins Dance, Dancing Under the Stars to be held Friday, June 14, 2024 from 6:00-9:00pm at Memorial Park Community Center. It will feature the Richard Banks Band & Tony Rominger. Tickets are now on sale for $25/person. Tickets can be purchased from a Senior Foundation board member, at the front desks at Memorial Park Community Center or online at: https://myjcparks.recdesk.com/Community/Program. Select the Senior Category to find the program and register. If it’s your first time using RecDesk, you will need to create a user account. Come and dance the night away with the Senior Foundation members.

Senior Softball –Tri-Cities Softball League

(Ages 55+ men and women)

Practice Tuesday and Thursday –9:00am-12:00pm Wing Deer Park

Cost: $40 for new player, $20 for returning player

Starts March 26. Registration forms available at Memorial Park Community Center.

Champions of the court is for intermediate/advanced pickleball players. There will be 24 slots available each night and you must sign up each Monday night you would like to play. Your starting doubles partner will be randomly selected and you will have a chance to play with other partners. Eight rounds of play will determine the champions of the court for that night. On Monday, May 13 all the champions of the court from the previous weeks will play for the final champions of the court.

MPCC Outdoor Pickleball Courts

Mondays May 6, 13 (final play will be winners from previous nights)

Cost: Free

Registration required the Friday prior to the Monday night play. Can only sign up for one week at a time. You can then sign up for the next week on Tuesday prior to the next Monday event. Play will start at exactly 6:00pm in order to get all rounds completed.

This will be about a 3 miles hike at Lower elevations and then so elevation on the trail by the river. Some stairs and rocky parts. We will meet in the parking lot next to the playground. Please pre-register.

Bays Mountain Fire Tower

Cost: Free (Ages 50+)

Thursday, May 23rd 8am

This hike is an out and back to the fire tower. Some elevation. Bring plenty of water. Please Register

No transportation will be provided by the center.

Saturdays, 10:30-12pm This dance experience is for anyone who would like to dance but think they can’t. Participants will learn basic lead and follow dance movements and cues that will allow them to dance with any partner to a variety of different paced songs.

I Can Dance (Intermediate Level Classes)

Instructor: Maureen Mulroy Cost: $10/month

Saturdays, 1-2:30pm

If you’ve already earned your “Yes, I Can Dance” button or have some degree of proficiency in a variety of different dance styles, then this class is for you. Participants will learn a variety of dance steps and patterns that will allow them to enjoy partner type dance forms, e.g. ballroom, latin-style, swing, shag.

WERQ Dance Fusion

WERQ is the widely addictive cardio workout based on hip hop and pop music and blended with dance fusion which is a mix of Latin, bhangra, belly dance and light weights.
