International Jazz Week • Burghausen Once again Kling & Freitag is supporting the international jazz week in Burghausen. From March 13 to 18, 2012, the 43th international jazz week in Burghausen took place, with jazz of the international top class. High-ranking names such as Marcus Miller, Diane Reeves, Lee Konitz and the Nicholas Payton Band were exciting the audience by their furious performances. The festival began with the final of the European Burghausen Youth Jazz Award For the fourth time in a row. The history of the Burghausen jazz week started already in 1970, and has become one of the most famous jazz festivals on international level today. In particular the unique mixture of atmosphere and charm is enchanting the public and the guest musicians every year.

The musicians play in close contact with the audience, creating an intimate event. In addition, the general well-being is also due to the organizer who is working intensely in order to satisfy the different desires of the participants. Equally, many citizens of the town are helping voluntarily for contributing to the success of the event. Kling & Freitag is supporting the international jazz week in Burghausen scince three years now. The Wacker hall, the main stage during the jazz week, was equipped in 2013 once more with the Kling & Freitag SEQUENZA 10 line array.

Glamotion • Dortmund Glamotion is the German-Russian megaevent of the year. For the fourth time doors were opening to the world of GLAMOTION - party, music and show. Thousands of people from whole Europe moved in order to hear, to feel and to experience what‘s new in the electronic music scene. In total 62 SEQUENZA 10 N/W with 18 flown SEQUENZA 10 B on the left and on the right were integrated in the stage nearly invisibly.

36 NOMOS XLC ensured a powerful bass making the public tremble. "We were able to position all NOMOS XLC continuously in a line under the stage, so we obtained a good coverage, and there was no need to experiment with different delay times." For the sound coverage of the tribune at the head of the hall, a delay of 4 SEQUENZA 10 supported the perfect coverage on the left and on the right. "The complete hall was covered by the main soundsystem next to the stage", the responsible system technician proudly reported. 40 models which were stimulating the guests by their high-class dancing performances and costumes brought life into the virtual reality. In 2012 the Glamotion was a full success once again.

Reload Festival • Sulingen For the seventh time the Reload Festival in Sulingen in northern Germany enticed by a very special line-up. Bands who played as headliners at the biggest festivals in the end of the nineties were succeeding on stage one after another. The organizer deserves respect, setting up such a line-up, for the exaltation of the public. Besides the headliners Slash, Dropkick Murphy´s and The BossHoss, the "New Yorker Crew" like Biohazard, Dog Eat Dog, Madball and others were particularly appreciated. All in all it was a very successful strike this year.

There was the full technical equipment. The stage had a play width of 14 m. In total, 15 SEQUENZA 10 N/W per side with 22 NOMOS XLC were covering the space. Two Line 212 on each side were used as out- and frontfills. "For the SEQUENZA 10 I chose the fullrange LS-block because I did not dispose of the flown basses SEQUENZA 10 B, and I equipped them with a lowcut from 80 Hz, so I could realize peak levels of over 126 dB with the system from the FOH seat," said Bertram Zimmermann. He got lots of experience, also on other systems, and is glad to work with the SEQUENZA 10. "Thanks to 'Snap&Fly‘, the quick and easy rigging system I can’t configure any other system in that short amount of time." High performance and efficiency in one system - that's what you need to provide a perfect performance in front of the stage

Boot Boo Hook Festival • Hannover Bootboohook, the festival with the particular name, is organized by the Hamburg independent label Tapete Records, together with the cultural association Faust e. V. since 2008. After three successful open air years the location has changed now. "Up to now it was always very familiar and totally relaxed", the good-humored guys of Tapte Records are remembering. This should not change in the new location in the Kronsberg Park: from 2012 the festival shall no more take place as usual on the meadow beside the Faust site in Hannover-Linden. Thanks to the

new site, the problems of former years are history now: "Now we can play the stages even after 11 p.m. without worrying the neighborhood", the organizer reports optimistically. The artists of the domains Electro & Electronica, Indie, Indie Pop, Indie Rock and Alternative Rock exceeded even the high expectations of the fans. Perhaps the wicked atmosphere and the relaxed ambiance were due to the perfect sound which was loud, but without being displeasing. No wonder - this year the sound technology was essentially supported by Kling & Freitag, Hannover once again. The well-known premium manufacturer of innovative soundsystems is a global player in the pro audio industry, and internationally well-reputed for good sound for more than twenty years.

Danube Island Festival • Vienna Satisfied faces at the 27th Danube Island Festival: The biggest open-air festival of Europe enjoyed this year not only best summer weather but also a new visitors record with three million visitors - after the three days event the organizers spoke self-confidently of the "party of the year", and many visitors might share this view. The main sound system of the FM4/Planet-stage consisted of two hangs of 15 SEQUENZA units each. Behind each array six SEQUENZA 10 B have been flown in some distance taking into account the inclined area, and their disposition and control was appropriate to reach hypercardioid coverage characteristics. Two triple SEQUENZA 10 B packages with hypercardioid coverage were placed in addition at the front edge of the stage in the towers, and on the

floor in front of the stage there were installed 6 x 2 NOMOS XLC as bass line with cardioid coverage. For the outfill of the very wide area, system technician David Ludz (Kling & Freitag) had chosen arrays of six SEQUENZA 10 (4 x N, 2 x W) each. The first spectator rows right in front of the 14 x 12 meter stage were supplied by CA 1515 as frontfills.

Albertina Passage Dinner Club • Vienna The modification works of the Albertina Passage, closed since November 2009, took seven months. The former run-down pedestrian underpass right near the national opera in Vienna has developed to a delicate tavern with live music and gourmet cuisine. A tavern for 300 guests on 1.500 square meters had been created by the works. The central point is a stage in white color, surrounded by noble seating loges. The bar area is equally dominated by elegant white color. The walls may be presented in different colors.

The "Member‘s Room" (a separate smoking area) is exclusively reserved for club members. The whole sound system was realized with the loudspeaker technology of Kling & Freitag. The furniture of the establishment in prominent location has been especially designed for the stylish club which is open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. "There will be live music until midnight," says the operator Matthias Kamp of "Sunshine Enterprises". Afterwards a DJ is in charge of the further program. The Dinnerclub wants to appeal "grown-up public", such as guests of the Hotels of the Ringstrasse, business people, visitors of theaters and of the national opera but also revelers.

Hans Otto Theatre โ ข Potsdam Since September 2006 the ensemble is playing in the new theater on the site of the "Schiffbauergasse" at the bank of the Tiefer See/ Havel. The architect and laureate of the Pritzker award Gottfried Bรถhm designed a five-story theater building with saucertype, protruding roofs. The dominant materials are concrete, glass and steel. A gasometer classified protected monument has been integrated in the body of the building. On the side of the lake Tiefer See there is a former chicory mill - also a protected monument - which is including a

restaurant today. The upper foyer and the stage hall are equipped with glass window facades opening the view over the Havel river towards the palace park Babelsberg. For the evening theater shows it is possible to darken the auditorium completely. The hall is providing space for a maximum of 480 spectators. Under the rows of the spectators are distributed 50 elevator platforms permitting to lower and to raise the auditorium in a flexible way. The rear stage may be opened to the round interior space of the gasometer. Thanks to the orchestra pit the stage is also appropriate for musical theater shows. The concrete realization of the design and the execution of building works were done by Paul Bรถhm, the son of Gottfried Bรถhm.

Bregenz Festival - André Chénier • Bregenz Opera in four acts in Italian language. Music by Umberto Giordano. Libretto by Luigi Illica. France in the year 1789. Nobility is feasting, citizens are grumbling. And between all chairs: the poet André Chénier. Loved by the rich because of his sensitive verse, but in his heart a revolutionary. André Chénier, the most famous work of the Italian composer Umberto Giordano, is a historical drama with brilliant acuteness and a human tragedy of upsetting intensity. The opera is outlined in front of the background of the French Revolution, and it is equally enthralling as a passionate love drama and as historical detective story. In the center of André Chénier is the French poet of the same name, a historical personage during the confusion of French Revolution who initially is a fervent supporter and then persecuted without mercy, finally ending himself on the guillotine. The composer integrated into his music historical dances and marches from the time before the French Revolution and also the well-known sounds of revolution, such as "Ca ira" and the "Marseillaise". They are accompanied by moving arias and stirring duets which conferred to the opera its unique character. It is as if André Chénier had been exclusively composed for the sea stage of Bregenz. This opera is offering a perfect mixture for

this place: An enthralling plot and four strong characters, prisoners between the excesses of the Ancien Régime and the terror of the French Revolution. There are André Chénier, the idealistic poet and his antagonist Carlo Gérard, formerly butler and now revolutionary gang leader. And there is the young noble Maddalena who is fleeing from the insurgents, assisted by her housemaid who is working as prostitute in order to provide subsistence to her mistress. The music of Giordano is Verismo of very first quality, pushing forward the high suspense of the plot with breathtaking speed.

Max-Schmeling Hall • Berlin The Max-Schmeling Hall is one of the biggest town halls of Berlin, with a capacity of up to 11.900 spectators. Initially the request for proposals envisaged a mere boxing hall, during the tendering preparations for the Olympic Games 2000. After the failure of the tender it became a multifunctional hall for sports, culture and congresses. The dancing and gymnastics competitions were part of the events in the hall as well as concerts with military and brass bands, Billy Talent, Seeed or the Tote Hosen. Equally, congresses and gala and political party events were part of the use profile. The dimensions of the new sound system have to be optimized for sport events with a capacity of 1.500 to 8.500 spectators. Additionally it should also be appropriate for smaller conferences and congresses with 500-1.500 visitors, stage shows with 6.000 visitors, big events with central stage, TV productions and as support for live concerts. The use of line array systems came into consideration in order to favor a regular and sufficiently high direct sound level for the central solution. Various reasons were in favor of the SEQUENZA 10 system of Kling & Freitag: By its sound the system was evaluated as one of two outstanding systems. A solution of modules without integrated amplifier was an argument regarding size and weight with

view to quick changes of installation. A Sequenza 10 module weighs 34 kg, and the system includes a flying system which is conceived for the quick installing and uninstalling in case of temporary operation. Also, for maintenance and monitoring the new TOPAS amplifiers of the system Kling & Freitag provide a webbased monitoring platform, permitting also mobile monitoring or monitoring from the office. The multifunctional character of the Max-Schmeling hall requires a sound system with flexible possibilities of use. The new system includes 50 SEQUENZA modules of Kling & Freitag which may be employed in central position in the center of the hall and also as a front sound system, procuring high flexibility not only for the choice of place. There are also qualitative characteristics which ensure the right sound for congresses with speech reproduction, concerts, gala or sports events.

Shenyang Stadium • Shenyang Successful start for Kling & Freitag in the Olympic stadium: After a building period of only a bit more than one year, the core piece of the Olympic center, the Central stadium Shenyang has been finished. Besides the stadium with 60.000 places, the Olympic center includes a gymnasium with 10.000 places, a natatorium and a tennis court with 4.000 places each. The Shenyang Olympic center is one of the 5 places where the 29th Olympic Summer Games are taking place. Organizers where selective for the choice of the sound concept for the central stadium, and they decided for products "made in Germany". Here the Chinese K&F-Distributor could convince with high quality products of Kling & Freitag. Among others, over 100 Kling & Freitag systems have been installed. The Shenyang central stadium is one of several stadiums in China equipped with Kling & Freitag products.

The stadium of the Wuhan Sports-Center has to be mentioned as another project. Today it is among the biggest and most modern stadiums in China. In 2007 it was one of the important venues of the FIFA women‘s football world championship. At first sight, Kling & Freitag and women‘s football do not seem to have much in common, but there is something that is connecting them: quality "Made in Germany".

In order to meet the high requirements of the historical building authorities and of the sound technicians of the MA 34, special fastenings had been designed for the precise positioning of the speakers. The team around Gustav Wirtl and Horst Pfaffelmayer, together with Siegfried Gundelmayer was in charge of the installation of the speakers and also the measuring and the adjustment of delay times. Simultaneously with the installation of the Kling & Freitag speakers, the old analogue audio distribution and transmission system was substituted by a modern digital bus solution. St. Pierre Cathedral • Geneva The construction of the three-naves pillar basilica had been begun about 1160 with Romanesque style and was finished hundred years later in Gothic style. In the 18th century it has been extended by a classicist column portico in front of the main facade. Considering its difficult acoustic conditions with numerous columns and glass windows, the enormous ceiling height with the resulting reverberation delays in the St. Pierre Cathedral in Geneva, the investment in a professional sound system was long overdue. With the installation of the powerful column line speakers K&F E 90 MK II of the German loudspeaker manufacturer Kling & Freitag it was possible to improve the sound in the historical cathedral so that even on the very back places an excellent speech comprehension could be generated. The quick and uncomplicated installation of the new "made in Germany" speakers allows now for more concerts and events in the St. Pierre cathedral, and it paid off for the municipality within a short time.

Dalian International Conference Center • Dalian Dalian International Convention Center designed by Austrian Coop Himmelblau came into use recently after four years of construction. The city of Dalian finally chose Coop Himmelblau’s design out of six world’s top architecture firms in an international tendering. Coop Himmelblau, a pioneer of deconstruction architecture thoughts, has already designed many world famous modern buildings such as BMW Welt in Munich and European Central Bank. "Dalian International Convention Center is comparable to the world famous modern buildings. As one of the new world landmarks, it will also create a new urban lifestyle.", said Wolfgang Haid, the architect in charge of this project. Dalian International Convention Center, 59 meters in height, covers an area of 4.3 hectares and a total construction area of 146,800

square meters. The underground floor is used as a garage and logistics service space. There are also four overground floors, including a hall on the first floor, a multi-media workshop, equipment room and comprehensive service area on the second floor, a multi-functional hall with a capacity of 1,800 people and 6 large and medium meeting rooms with a capacity of 300 to 800 people on the third floor. South Korea

Grace and Truth Church • Seoul The first SEQUENZA 10 Line Array system and other supporting speakers from the German premium manufacturer, Kling & Freitag, was successfully installed at the Korean Grace and Truth Church in Seoul. With its high-domed ceiling, and great distance from the pulpit to the back wall, the church is acoustically challenging. There are standing waves and some reflections. The large main hall comprises 4,500 seats on two floors and more space is available for religious activities, if needed. The large open room with huge balcony required very precise positioning and orientation of the installed sound system. The company Kusan Acoustic, the Korean distribution partner of Kling & Freitag, was commissioned with the planning and installation of the sound system. The required sound system, therefore, needs to cover a broad spectrum. The selected K&F SEQUENZA 10 Line Array system of Kling & Freitag, with 9 items per side, fulfils this function very well. The company, Kusan Acoustic, installed additional Kling & Freitag speakers directly into the forestage, as well as ceiling speakers to amplify the area of the back rows of seats beneath the balcony. All speakers are controlled by the central interface of the K&F SystemRack with the integrated K&F CD-44 System Controller. The proven K&F CA 106 and K&F CA 1001 speakers efficiently amplify the

volume in the back rows. The sound quality was classified as very well balanced overall. The two main vertical arrays, left and right of the altar below the ceiling, consist of three parts with three speakers each. The upper third of the speaker system is directed towards the seats on the intermediate floor, which are much further away. The middle group of three speakers covers the middle area and the area below the balcony. The lower group fills the bottom front seats in the front rows with sound. Everything can be centrally controlled from the production room, enabling, among other things, live broadcasts and digital recordings for radio, television and the Internet. With the Kling & Freitag system, Kusan Acoustic was able to reproduce clear and natural sound, as well as very good speech intelligibility. The new system is easy to use and creates a good atmosphere during church services and concerts.

CICG - Centre International de Conferences Geneve • Geneva The Centre International de Conférence Genève (CICG) was inaugurated in 1973. 27 conference rooms are at the disposal of the numerous international organizations for their congresses and conferences. A new system was scheduled for 2012. Important renovation works had been performed on the building and on the technical installations in 2004. However, the investment was not sufficient, and thus the result was not satisfying for the sound system of the two big conference rooms with respectively 750 m2 and 1400 m2. The RFP asked for intelligent system solutions for room 1 and 2, with the possibility to run the installations simultaneously in case of plenary assemblies. Room 1 with a capacity of 970 places is equipped with an amphitheater-style seating, room 2 with 550 places is adjustable at will. During the conferences the main language is amplified by the speakers. Participants who are following the conference in a translated language are using headphones. The design has been performed by the company ACR Fuchs Hanimann in close cooperation with Tucton, the Swiss distributor of Kling & Freitag. After a precise analysis of the specific project requirements a ceiling-mounted sound system turned out to be the most advantageous solution. The model Kling & Freitag Gravis 12 has all characteristics required by this challenging project: high

efficiency, precise directivity, discreet aspect, light construction and well-conceived installation hardware. For the calculation of the number of required speakers we could entirely rely on the precise manufacturer's data. Thanks to the two variants of this loudspeaker with different coverage angles - Gravis 12 W (90° x 50°) and Gravis 12 N (65° x 50°) - it was possible to obtain a regular coverage in spite of the ceiling height variation from 4m to 9m. Due to the high efficiency, only 20 Gravis 12 W, 17 Gravis 12 N, and 6 Passio speakers and 3 x SystemRacks with CD 44 were needed to satisfy all wishes. An on-site test presentation of the designed system together with the existing installations such as conference equipment was part of the basic conditions of the RFP. The demo-system was installed successfully in July 2012. Measurements confirmed design and simulations, and customer's expectations were fully satisfied. The project was finished by the end of 2012, and it was a success for all participants.

P.I. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall • Moscow Concert organizations exist in all of the world’s cultural capitals, preserving musical traditions and themselves forming a part of worldwide musical culture. They often serve as an introduction to the cultural wealth of a country and an indicator of the variety and richness of its musical life. The Moscow Philharmonic Society is one such universally recognized concert organization, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and carefully preserving interpretive traditions. The concert and artistic activity of the Philharmonic fulfills a very important mission, that of presenting to the contemporary listener a wide-ranging repertoire and variety of interpretations, with a place for tradition, for folklore, for innovation, for new concepts and for great literature. It is precisely the variety and quality of musical interpretive culture that to a large extent determines a country’s overall cultural level. Today, the Philharmonic strives to give the listener the possibility of becoming a participant in the world of music, to present the world’s most outstanding musical experiences and to support Russian musicians in realizing their creative potential. In doing so, it serves to form a musical environment that accommodates both performers and listeners.

Moscow Philharmonic Society in season 2013-2014 presented: 9 venues, 632 concerts, 202 subscriptions, 50 orchestras, 120 conductors, 650 soloists and more than 600 000 listeners.

“It is difficult to overestimate the role of the Moscow Philharmonic in the development of musical life in our country. It is a kind of university which is attended by millions of music lovers and thousands of musicians.” Dmitry Shostakovich Text: http://meloman.ru

and full player welfare areas. The complex covers approximately 1,600,000 square feet (150,000 m2).The Anticipating a Montreal entry into Major League Soccer, plans were made to expand the stadium from its initial 13,034 capacity to 20,000 to cope with the anticipated boost in attendance. The Quebec government put $23 million for the renovation and expansion of the stadium (the total cost of the stadium was therefore about $40 million).

There are a lot of Soccer Stadiums which are already equipped with K&F Soundsystems - For Example in Germany, China and even in Dubai. For the Saputo Stadium it was very important to get the speakers customized in white colour with the right options for outdoor installation. Pacha Nightclub • Mallorca The owners of Pacha in Mallorca recently instigated an audio system overhaul to inject the venue with a new lease of life. The new Funky Room and the Main Room were redesigned with the aim of achieving a high quality sound system that would provide ample coverage throughout the venue. Each room has an individual sound system - although they do share audio processing - which is divided into different areas. On the dancefloor in the Main Room, José and Héctor specified six Kling & Freitag Sequenza 10 W line array cabinets and four Kling & Freitag Sequenza 10 B subwoofers for low-frequency extension. The DJ monitoring system comprises two Kling & Freitag CA 1515-9 two-way loudspeakers and a Kling & Freitag & Freitag SWi 118E subwoofer, while 10 Kling & Freitag cabinets are spread across the rest of the space to give smooth coverage throughout. The Funky Room uses similar products but has a slightly different set-up. The dancefloor is equipped with two Kling & Freitag CA 1215-9 full range loudspeakers supplemented by two Kling & Freitag SW215E high efficiency subwoofers. Two Kling & Freitag Sona 5 passive loudspeakers have been installed around the periphery, while two Kling & Freitag CA 1001 enclosu-

res and one Proel SW115A subwoofer which delivers a dynamic response at low frequencies - take care of DJ monitoring. Héctor said of the Kling & Freitag system: "During my career I have had the opportunity to install, test and adjust sound systems from the best manufacturers in the world. All Kling & Freitag products are of extreme quality. The performance is incredible and unlike other so-called 'big manufacturers', Kling & Freitag is the one with better control of dispersion, better linearity between the different models, the native frequency response is more balanced, there's lower distortion in the high frequencies and the products have longer durability."
