Chris Tidland’s win came in his 192nd career start on Tour. His first-place check of $130,500 vaulted him from No. 86 to No. 16 on the money list. Scott Piercy tied the Hillcrest Country Club course record with a 10-under-par 61 in the final round. The Las Vegas resident had eight birdies and an eagle en route to becoming only the third player in tournament history to shoot a 61. J.P. Hayes set the course record during the second round in 1994, and Woody Austin tied it the following day. Last year’s field included the top-50 money winners on the Nationwide Tour and 96 of the top 100. Bob Sowards had a hole-inone at the par-3, eighth during the opening round last year. Sowards’ ace at the 208-yard hole was the 14th in tournament history.
