ith the splendor of the autumn season in full swing and paired with the celebrated Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, Trailside Galleries debuts its highly anticipated Fall Gold exhibition and sale. The highlight of the gallery’s fall art season, Fall Gold coincides with the Fall Arts Festival and includes a group exhibition, several solo showcases and other happenings. It kicks off September 1. The group exhibit includes a fine selection of wildlife, landscape, and sporting art by artists Dustin Van Wechel, Brent Cotton, James Morgan, George Northup, Kyle Sims, Dan Smith, Adam Smith, John DeMott, Tucker Smith, Kent Ullberg, Kathy Wipfler, and Sarah Woods, among others.

There will be an artists’ reception September 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. with many of the show participants in attendance for a meet and greet. In addition, the gallery will also be hosting a major solo show of new works by California artist Logan Maxwell Hagege. The gallery notes, “With approximately 20 new paintings, the American Southwest comes to life in a series of angular images that capture the spare beauty of an arid landscape and of an ancient and enduring Native American culture shaped by the extremes of its environment.” Also on display will be a showcase of works by California artist Tim Solliday, including a 40-by-40-inch oil titled Adjusting

his Saddle and Parade of Life measuring in at 40 by 30 inches. “Solliday’s work is a unique combination of the historic and the contemporary, drawing inspiration from turn-of-the-century California and Western artists such as Ernest L. Blumenschein, Frank Tenney Johnson, and Dean Cornwell. Solliday’s work is based on a solid sense of design, pattern, and bright, vibrant color,” according to the gallery. There also will be a showcase of new wildlife works by Florida-based husbandand-wife artists John and Suzie SeereyLester. In one of John’s new works, titled Keeper of Secrets, the mythical raven takes center stage. “The raven is the real star of my painting,”

he says. “In Native American lore the raven is known for many things and throughout the centuries many myths have been attributed to this amazing bird. Its reputation as the ‘keeper of secrets’ and the foreteller of omens is what inspired me to do this painting.” John will be at the gallery September 13 signing copies of his latest book, Legends of the Hunt—Campfire Tales, that depicts 60 true stories and more than 150 paintings and drawings that document life-and-death encounters with dangerous game and strange events that defy description. A new collection of wildlife paintings by Zimbabwe native Lindsay Scott will also be unveiled at her one-woman showcase, including the oils Under the Escarpment and Sageland Morning. Her background as an illustrator, botanical researcher and biologist has served her well in conveying the drama and spirit of both African and North American wildlife. “Her meticulous illustration work is melded with an expressive use of brushwork and reflected light,” notes the gallery. “Acclaimed for her dynamic and bold oil paintings, as well as exquisitely detailed pencil drawings, she is able to convey a sense of firsthand experience while capturing an intimate understanding of the wild country she knows so well.” Fall Gold runs through September 14.
