EXCELLENCE IN ART SINCE 1963

Dear Friends, This November at our Scottsdale, Arizona location we are pleased once again to host our annual fall show, “A View To the West” with an Open House and reception scheduled for Saturday, November 11 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. The afternoon show will afford collectors the opportunity to view and purchase from a select body of all new works from many of the gallery’s most recognized western representational artists. For more than 50 years, our gallery has been committed to preserving and interpreting the heritage of the American West. With more than 25 renown western artists participating in the show, the event brings together an array of creative styles and themes inspired by the American West. Whether expressing the landscapes, wildlife, cultures or peoples of the west, the artists tell a vivid and colorful story, both historic and contemporary through their drawings, paintings and sculpture. Jenness Cortez, Ranch Hands, acrylic on panel, 16 x 30 inches, $27,500

During this event, we are pleased to showcase artists Robert Duncan and Z.S. Liang whose rich and compelling paintings of Native American culture and tradition never fail to resonate with collectors! We also have a special focus on Oregon based artist William Pickerd who is introducing a spectacular new collection of alabaster vessels, which are heavily influenced by the works of the late Hopi artist and jeweler Charles Loloma. Also of note are the new works we will have available by Thomas Blackshear who joined the gallery this year. Blackshear's work is known for being emotionally powerful and for being created with an extraordinary sense of color, style and design. He has created artwork for companies such as Anhauser-Busch, Lucas Films, and Universal Studios among others. Additionally this fall we have a selection of new offerings by artists Dan McCaw, Michael Godfrey and Michael Malm. On the following pages we have featured a sampling of works by each artist for your consideration! As always, we welcome your thoughts or comments on how we may better serve your particular art needs or requests. Thomas Blackshear, Top Hat, goache and acrylic, 37 x 19 inches, $15,000

Trailside Galleries is pleased to present a new collection of alabaster bowls and vessels by Oregon based turner William Pickerd. Collectors will have the opportunity to meet him in person during an artist reception on Saturday, November 11 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Pickerd’s new collection, aptly titled “The Pueblo Series” is heavily influenced by the works of the late Hopi artist and jeweler, Charles Loloma. He notes, “The Pueblo Series” is my reaction to seeing an entire room at the Wheelwright Gallery in Santa Fe of work created by Charles Loloma. He was the first Native American to be heralded worldwide for his work. He was also one of the first Native American artists to work with large amounts of gold and semi-precious stones as well as traditional turquoise, silver and red coral.” Since viewing that exhibit, Pickerd has been on a path of discovery, both about who he is as an artist and how far he can go. He has immersed himself in Loloma’s manner of working with color, symmetry, simplicity and balance: symmetry without being symmetrical and rhythm without a mathematical pattern. “My work for the Pueblo Series,” says Pickerd, “is an attempt to immerse myself in his work looking at shapes, colors and complex patterns, blending them into simple and harmonious creations in metal, stone, and all manner of wonderful materials and ultimately, taking simple shapes and transforming them into objects of incredible beauty.”
