Designed for an adult and child to enjoy together, this class uses creative play, rhymes, music, and percussion to teach the fundamentals of dance such as rhythm, balance, coordination, flexibility and creative expression.

PURPLE DRAGON DON JITSU RYU Age 7 Ancient in origin yet modern in concept, Don Jitsu Ryu is one of the most practical, effective and complete martial arts fighting systems in the world today. It blends Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido and weaponry. The program consists of four main areas; fitness training & stretching, Kata & basics, break-falls, and self defense & sparring. Space in this class reserved for previously enrolled students.

UKEE PLAYSCHOOL Age 3 - 5 This popular playtime program will allow your tot to explore, create, learn and have fun in a safe and nurturing environment. Children will take advantage of different “play stations” each designed to build and enhance fine motor skills as well as establish group dynamics. This is an ideal environment for your tot to build confidence, be creative, socialize and prepare for Kindergarten. Children attending kindergarten Sept 2018 will be given priority registration. LA JOYEUSE RIBAMBELLE (French Language Preschool)

Age 3 - 5 Young children have an innate instinct for learning new languages. This preschool program focuses on French language development through songs, rhymes, storytelling, and games fostering social and cognitive development while teaching and encouraging the use of the French language. Children will feel empowered and confident in using new vocabularies. WEST COAST MOTEL POOL RULES

Swimmers must rinse off in showers before entering the pool. Swimmers will clean-up after themselves in the change room area. Swimmers are to use back entrance of motel only. Next swimming session will be in April on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

ROLLER HOCKEY

This sport is similar to Floor Hockey but played with a ball instead of a puck and the children skate with roller blades. Skill set is necessary, children must have their own equipment and skates. GYMNASTICS Age 1.5 + PARENTS PLEASE REMEMBER - Our instructor requires a small break in between classes and children are not to use the gymnastic equipment unless they are in session with the instructor; children are to wait on the sidelines until called to the mat. Thank you. Children will learn the fundamentals of sport, spacial awareness and physical literacy through the fun of gymnastics. Children will experience jumping, swinging and inverting, building upon every skill as classes develop. Come on out and have fun working on your balance, flexibility, strength and speed.

Combines active gymnastics circuits with songs, games and stretches. This program makes physical development fun and social. Parents will participate together with their child.

Stay dry this winter and come drop into Ukee’s radest locals nights for all ages and skill set. There will be a few skate ramps and rails set up for the local shredders. Please respect each others space and ability. Everyone will sign a waiver to participate. Helmets are mandatory. Grades 4 - 7 This program, designed specifically for kids in grades 4-7, is to provide a healthy, active and safe environment with blocks of time allotted for snack, homework support, study time, games and active play. Kids will meet in the UES Foods Room directly after school to sign in. There will be a light snack provided, please let us know if your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies. Children will also bring home a copy of the Ucluelet Afterschool Club - Code of Conduct for parents/caregiver to sign and return to the Facilitator. AFTERSCHOOL FRENCH CLUB Age 5+ All children have an innate instinct for learning new languages. Your child can benefit from learning French through songs, rhymes, storytelling and games. By the end of the session your child will be able to respond to simple commands, imitate some phonemes and intonations. Your child will learn to communicate verbally or by gestures to French questions. Children will feel empowered and confident in using the new language vocabulary.

The Ucluelet Community Choir is more than just a choir, it is a group of people that have become a family and each rehearsal is an awesome celebration of harmony! Come join your voice to our sound, no experience needed! Learn voice technique on pop and classical uplifting songs! This session has two registration options; you can either sign up for the full sixteen week session or join the last eleven weeks. People who choose to sign up for the sixteen weeks will learn an exclusive set of songs. Then the whole group will learn new material for the following elevens weeks. This option is perfect for the Snow Birds travellers! Teens are welcome too. Thank you to the Pacific Rim Arts Society for use of the grand piano.

Join this eight week art program focused on exploring different mediums and techniques. This class will allow kids to dive into their imaginations and have tools to create pieces focused on their identity, feelings and give them a space to express themselves. Each class will go over a different technique, provide a few different example projects, and then allow free, unstructured time to create. This program will end with an art exhibition of the childrens work on March 15 at the UCC.

The technique is basic, requires very little experience or tools and “mistakes” may well lead to interesting results. Join Cynthia in this intriguing class and create at least one item each. Needle felting is a process which uses barbed needles to interlock wool fibers to form a more condensed material. Wool fibers have scales which when rubbed against each other catch and lock into place. Come create your own masterpiece.

GLEE SEASON 7

Ballet teaches poise, posture, strength and technique while enjoying a fun, dynamic atmosphere. Classes are set to a wide range of music with stories, rhythm and games to increase musical sensitivity and awareness. These classes will introduce the beginning student to the technique and vocabulary of classical ballet, with an emphasis on posture, placement and movement potential. All dancers should have their hair up, appropriate ballet attire and ballet shoes. We have spare ballet shoes to share. No experience necessary for these classes.

THE POTTERY STUDIO

The Pottery Studio can be accessed by people who have previous experience in ceramics. Studio use includes a small storage space for your own clay and glaze and use of minimal tools and equipment. The Pottery Studio is open Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 9:00 pm and on Saturdays 9:00 am -5:00 pm. The kiln is operated solely by the Studio Coordinator. This multi-level aqua fitness class offers both cardiovascular and muscle conditioning using the waters resistance to strengthen your endurance. A great low impact and high energy routine suitable for all ages.

This program will help you to learn tools to relax and de-stress, create space to adapt to the changes happening in your body and to your baby, to regain strength and balance, prepare for your upcoming labour and birth, discover the importance of connecting to your breathings.

Looking for the best of both worlds, heat up, release and express, followed by ground, calm and open. This class prepares a heated vinyasa flow or fiery movements during the first half of class followed by allowing of cooling, staying, meditative second half of class. A practise of asana (postures) , pranayama (Breath work), and meditation.

We are shaking things up this winter! Join Lyvi for a mixture of Urban Dance Mix and Latin Fury dance classes that will rotate from week to week. UDM hosts elements like dancehall, hip hop, R&B, jazz, Indian music/Bollywood, Latin music, and drum and bass. Latin Fury is a combination of rhythms ranging from cha cha, merengue, salsa, bachata and many more. Lyvi will teach you simple yet fun steps that will get your heart pumping. No experience required, first class on the rotation will be Urban Dance Mix…be ready to get your dance on! Do you like to groove to the soulful sounds of rhythm and blues? What better way to enjoy it than by line dancing? In each class we will warm-up, review dances taught in previous week(s) and learn some new ones too! Upcoming dance socials will be coordinated so that students have the opportunity to dance with their peers and practice the dances they have learned. Class is for all ages and genders. CANCELLATIONS:

Sometimes great courses with talented instructors are cancelled if you wait until the last minute to register. Our instructors need as much notice as possible so that they can be properly prepared for their classes. *Register at least one week in advance of the start date to avoid disappointment. Refunds will automaticaly be given in the event the Parks & Recreation Department has to cancel a program. A 10% administration fee will be charged for persons cancelling their registration PRIOR to the beginning of the program. A 10% administration fee, plus a pro-rated charge, will be levied to persons who cancel a program AFTER the program has begun. *Swimming is exempt. Exceptions will be at the discretion of the Director of Parks & Recreation.
