Also of note: it’s worth considering where your newfound VIP status will get the most bang for your buck. We’re not saying to shoot for something Michelinstarred—though if you can, then hell, go for it—but it would be more useful to become a regular somewhere with a wait time than at the corner bar with open tables on a Friday night. You’re probably not going for Cheers here, after all. Probably.

Becoming a regular seems pretty easy: go to a place. Go there again. Go again and again until they know your name. Repeat ad infinitum. But that’s only half the battle…It requires dedication. It requires patience. And once you’ve made it, like any good relationship it’ll require some maintenance. But we promise, it’ll be worth it. Without any further ado, LaPalme Magazine presents: The Gentleman’s Guide to Becoming a Regular.

Take You To The Next Level. Remember, the key word here is regular, so get a routine and your order, and always order it that way. Thousands of people order a Kobe burger every week, but only you ask for it with an over-medium egg at 8 o’clock on Thursdays. And only you will wait for that corner booth to eat it, even if there are plenty of open tables elsewhere in the restaurant. Of course, that’s just one piece of the puzzle. Introduce yourself to the Maitre’ D’. Banter candidly with the waiter or bartender. Get their names right. Don’t “send your compliments to the chef, ”but do tip generously; it’ll

If your chicken’s undercooked, let the waitress know (with aplomb, of course), but if it’s just a bit dry, suck it up. It’ll probably be better next time. And if it’s not, well, we never said regularity had to be monogamous.

Whatever the case, take the menu for a spin, find a go-to and don’t forget, consistency is crucial; go back often to ensure that the first time they perfectly cooked your medium-rare prime rib wasn’t a chance occurrence.

SERIOUS ART Words by Marshal Rones Visions by Bryan Soderland Hailing from Titusville, FL, Flashlights are a novel and refreshing blend of indie, rock, and punk music. Flashlights seamlessly fused each genre and somehow harmonizes into a timeless melodic sound that sends listeners on a rollercoaster of emotions. In the summer of 2012, Flashlights became the second band to sign to Hard Rock Records. Soon after, they traveled to the Fidelitorium in North Carolina to record songs for their upcoming LP. Upon completion of the record, Flashlights released a digital EP titled “Don’t Take Me Seriously” and embarked on a northeast tour that included concerts in all the major cities. The Dappled Dot Manicure A Girl and Her Polish blogger, Katee Baum, put a multidimensional twist on the polka-dot nail art trend when creating this look. Circles in a muted color palette overlap on a graphic white base for a ‘60s Op Art effect that is playful and sophisticated. Here is how to put together this quick and easy manicure.

WHAT YOU NEED BASE COAT. Try: OPI Original Nail Envy Nail Strengthener. SHEER WHITE NAIL POLISH. Try: Essie Nail Color in Marshmallow. BLACK NAIL POLISH .Try: Lancôme Vernis in Love in Noir Caviar. GRAY NAIL POLISH. Try: Zoya Nail Polish in Dove.

HOW TO DO IT: Step 1: Apply the base coat and two coats of the sheer white nail polish. Let the polish dry for two minutes. Step 2: Pour a dime-sized amount of each of the dotting polishes (black, gray and sage) onto the plastic plate.

Step 3: Dip the dotting tool into the polish on the plate and apply it to your nails. Use all four dotting tools and all three colors to create random dots along the bottom and one side of each of your nails.

Tip:

“The polish will start to collect on your tool,” Baum says. “So if you want smaller dots, you will want to wipe the polish off before it builds up too much.”

Step 4: Let the dots dry for 10 minutes. Finish the look by applying the top coat.

COIFFURE The autumn/winter 2013-14 shows were a definite crowd-pleaser when it came to hair, with “faux-hawks” at Fendi, super-sized curls at Marc by Marc Jacobs and two-tone ponytails at Alexander Wang. Nevertheless, some definite trends shone through for the new season - and we’ve detailed 6 of them here.

There were Seventies-meets-Forties waves in all four cities, tangled, wet-look hair making a particular impact in Milan and some of spring’s best hair trends updated with a new lease of life for autumn.

Swept-back, unparted styles - worn slicked to the head at the top and straight at the back - look set to be autumn’s extension of spring/summer 2013’s dual-textured trend.

Yes, crimping is back! It’s not one of the biggest trends of the season but it was very much present at Zac Posen, Rick Owens and Carven, whilst at Derek Lam the hair was plaited to make crimp-like imprints in the hair once they were untied.

Tangled is perhaps one of the harder trends to translate into real life, Perhaps a more wearable version is the Lanvin one, where the damp-looking hair was gathered into tousled ponytails.

The autumn/winter 2013-14 woman may be ladylike and sophisticated, but the season’s girl is a punk rocker with plenty of attitude.

Normally we don’t kiss and tell, but there is a fashion that is only bedroom appropriate, but definitely worth talking about… lingerie The true definition of lingerie is a fashionable undergarment. Women’s lingerie holds trends that are similar to traditional fashion depending on the season. One of the biggest fads this year is Sheer lingerie. Sheer was one of the hottest trends for the Spring/Summer runway season. What you wear underneath counts; Wearing a natural tone garment or even lace works perfectly for this occasion. Another trend this year, is letting a little bright color or neon bra peek out from underyour tank. Hiding your lingerie isn’t what’s best anymore! Even swimsuits are now being inspired by lingerie. Lace, bikini tops with underwire, neutral tones are all lingerie style suits that are in this season. The more your swimsuit doesn’t look like a “swimsuit” the better.

Not all lingerie has to be to be scandalous to be sexy. Another trend coming about is lady-like lingerie. Graphic flower prints inspired by a different era give lingerie a more modern and feminine look. Pastel colors and delicate nightgowns seem to be the upcoming sexy for what’s underneath. It gives you that sense of sexy but classy not revealing everything at once, leaving some things up to the imagination. Ruling the lingerie world is the vintage-inspired look. Which brings bras that shape the bust line and panties that are designed with higher cuts on the torso. This lingerie gives a bold sophisticated look. The use of silk, lace, ribbon bows, and trim allow the garments a more conservative look that is sweet and sexy but still vintage. What was hot in the 1950’s is what’s hot now! When thinking what’s in that boudoir, remember there is more to lingerie then just wearing that white bra and panty . Fab is on a mission to help people better their lives with design. Millions of people around the world use Fab to discover everyday design products at great prices, to connect with the world’s most exciting designers, and to share their favorite design inspirations.

ab has become the darling of the Interwebs. What started as a gay social network has pivoted into a design-focused, socially charged ecommerce site that sells everything from rugs to wine glasses to decorative tchotchkes.

and that money has been put to good use in Fab 3.0 — a redesign of the site that integrates Facebook. The new look also more prominently displays the live feed of “likes” and purchases, since data shows that social recommendations are a key revenue driver.

Fab has seen 4.75 million consumers log in since its launch in June 2011, buying 1.8 million products. Each day, there are approximately $400,000 in sales, and 50% of new referrals are from social sites, says Fab founder and CEO Jason Goldberg. According to the New York Times, the company is heading toward a $140 million annual revenue. In December 2011, the site raised $40 million in funding,

We needed to reimagine it for the web, and that’s what the first iteration of our social feed is all about — how do you shop with friends and discover what they’re buying, but also what they’re liking or pinning?

Tell me about the “Inspiration Wall,” which encourages users to upload their own design inspirations.

Your site sells everything from dog treats and wall coverings to furniture and kitchenware. Who is the Fab customer? We’re looking for design lovers everywhere, all the people who appreciate and love design. They’re 18 to 45, they are digital natives, they’re people who have experienced the web as an integral part of their life. They probably own an iPhone and also an iPad. They probably like an eclectic mix of

We were trying to build the audience and tell people what Fab is about, to get them excited. One month in, we had 50,000 users, and we were seen as the place for design. We very quickly put up the Inspiration Wall to give people something to do while they waited for the site to launch, and it’s really just taken off. We had close to 200,000 people before launch, and the Inspiration Wall is a big reason why there’s so much social integration on the site. It’s hard to make that kind of activity happen even if you try to deliver a good product, so it’s been great. It’s not forced — people love sharing design. In fact, 50% of our users come from social sharing.

Cars Enter The Fashion World Words by Nathan Gomez

From catwalks to car showrooms, the intersection between the worlds of cars and fashion is becoming increasingly apparent.

Indeed, Porsche Design, a spin-off launched by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972, is repositioning itself as a luxury brand for fashion and accessories. In September, the company is launching a full lifestyle collection, including menswear and womenswear, shoes and accessories. In 2011, it hired Thomas

Steinbrueck, who worked with fashion designer Elie Saab, as creative director and to design the collection, which will adhere to the Porsche mantra of form follows function.

COULD CARS BE THE NEW HANDBAGS? Carmaker Mercedes-Benz, for example, has sponsored many fashion weeks around the world; fashion label Carven’s recent Paris show included broken-down cars jammed into the walls, headlights illuminating the catwalk; Mini has collaborated with Puma (Mini by Puma) to offer clothes, shoes and accessories; and Porsche Design’s autumn/winter 2013 collection at New York Fashion Week marked the first time a car company has made a serious stab at creating a fashion empire. Fern Mallis, a former IMG executive who created New York Fashion Week, says: “I think that everyone who cares about design cares about all of the things around them: what looks the best and says the most about them, which includes cars. Cars and clothes speak to people’s subconscious and conscious levels. This trend has gone beyond the

requisite baseball cap and leather jacket with the company logo on.” New Yorkbased menswear designer John Varvatos recently consulted on the design of the Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition, which will be presented at the New York International Auto Show this month, while former DKNY designer Anthony Prozzi now works at Ford as a senior interior designer, bringing his fashion background to bear.

INSPIRED BY THE PRINCES AND PAUPERS OF DECADES PAST Often Lonnie’s daydreaming leads him out of the city and past the estates of the rich, where he actually sees Danny at play with a photographer on the set of a high fashion shoot. Lonnie tries his hand at posing and both men are fascinated by the other’s life; Lonnie by the luxury that Danny has, and Danny by the freedom and carefree living that Lonnie has. LP: Your album, Are You Getting Enough?, was released in May this year. You’ve been doing some touring. How is that going? Where are you headed? Josh: : Well, it was going ok. I’m work-

ing on a new restaurant, Kasa, with my business partners Shawn Kaflan and the Bento Group. LP: You have a reputation as the Rock n’ Roll Sushi Chef! How is that blending in with everything?

Josh: Yeah, currently Kasa is doing a

build out and should be completed in the next 4-6 weeks. In the mean time we’ve been creating an amazing menu, doing tastings and meeting with vendors. We are excited to bring a new level of dining to Orlando.

LP: Where did the whole chef thing come from? Did you always have a love of food?

For Fell on Deaf Ears front man and Food Network Star finalist, Josh Lyons it is every day. We got a chance to sit down with the chef and his band to discuss touring, restaurants and of course the Food Network.

Lapalme: Checking out your page and

your website, your influences are kind of all over the place. If you had to define what your band’s music or genre is what would you say it is?

Josh: : I always like to say were modern rock, because we are writing it currently, with a kind of euro feel. Based off of Diamond Duggal’s influences and mine

I would like to kind of mesh the Kinks, the Beatles and Radiohead with Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots and Coldplay. It’s kind of all of the flavors thrown together.

LP: : Who would you say is your fan base?

Josh: I think it’s pretty broad. We have

teenagers all the way through to people in their 40s and 50s that enjoy this track or that track because they might hear and influence of Alice in chains, that some of the younger guys might like or younger girls might like out of my mind because of the dance element. There are so many variants to the songs that such a wide range will really like the music.

great cook. Not to throw her under the bus or anything. Living on my own I enjoyed being able to cook. One big influence was girls. If you can cook on a date you’re in.

LP: Why sushi? Josh: I tried working in kitchens. It’s so

loud and stressful and I can get pretty anxious. Being in a sushi bar there is more of a Zen type atmosphere. No one is screaming at you.

LP: What was your favorite part of being

reality show is. It was very educational. It taught me to how to speak in front of a camera, to feel comfortable and what to focus on to flow and connect with the audience

They want to see you down because that creates the drama. They know exactly how to manipulate a situation. It’s pretty impressive.

LP: What is your biggest regret?

LP: Would you do it again?

CITRUS RESTAURANT, CLASSY YET SWANKY Looking for a great meal to accompany your night out? Citrus Restaurant, classy yet swanky, features regionally inspired new American Cuisine. While Citrus is not “historic” or “citrus themed”, the restaurant name is meant to respect Central Florida’s heritage. Located just north of downtown Orlando, the concept of Citrus Restaurant reflects an interpretation of Florida flavors and ideas like fresh, such as clean, local and independent. The restaurant is stylish and inviting and sets an energetic and lively tone for the emerging Uptown District. The staff is quite personable and very well versed in the menu offerings. The outside seating with nice low key chill music playing the background and a great breeze just enhances the ambiance. Outstanding menu offerings, Do not miss their short rib gnocchi...it’s devine and be ready for leftovers. My staple here was the scallops, which come over a cucumber risotto-and these are also wonderful. However, the short ribs just blew me away tonight and I want more already!!! Also, they have a nice wine list with some pretty odd finds, and it’s not incredibly overpriced. Brought to you by the team behind Kres, CityFish and Hue...it’s a little out of the way from the downtown hustle and bustle, however it’s worth it for lunch or dinner.

inding the right jeans for your frame can pose a problem. How do you know which pair is right for you? Does your backside look baggy? Here are a couple tips for you that can help with these issues...

If you are looking for a nice pair of jeans to wear to the office stay away from a cropped pant, they are more of a casual look. Go with something that has a subtle to no wash, a darker blue jean is better, if you can iron in a nice crisp crease, do it. In the work place try to avoid a low rise; stick with a mid or high rise depending on your body. Online shopping is an option if you hate fitting rooms. You can always order two sizes, the size you think you are and one size bigger just in case. Make sure the website has a good return policy in case the jeans don’t fit. Whatever doesn’t fit; return it.

To avoid a saggy bottom, make sure when you try on your jeans the back pockets do not come to low. That extra material will make your tush look like mush. If the jeans are tight around your thighs go to the next fit or size up. Always make sure your denim is age appropriate. There are many types of jeans, don’t just thinkdenim. There are so many styles like distressed, acid wash and embellishments that are added. Colors are very popular right now for jeans, like lemon, spearmint, orange, fondant pink, violet, and baby blue shades are definitely in. Don’t be afraid to see a tailor. Tailors can customize your jeans specifically for you, Make sure you fit the biggest part of you then, take them to a tailor so they can slim down the rest.

Jeans can work for anyone, no matter your age, size, etc. – but not all styles work for everyone. Wear a style because it’s flattering, not because it’s trendy. Don’t buy into a trend unless it flatters you.
