Giadas Trattoria restaurant opened in The Factory at 210 North Main Street in downtown Kernersville in 2013.
Intown Donutz opened to customers at 508 East Mountain Street in Kernersville in 2013.
Luxury Spa & Nails opened to customers at 508 East Mountain Street in Kernersville in 2013.
Sleep Inn at 1406 Heartland Drive underwent a year-long remodeling project that included the hotel's entire interior. The project was completed in December 2012.

Smith Crossing mixed use development calls for plans to build an upscale apartment complex on property located along Union Cross Road near Interstate 40. Construction on the units is scheduled to begin in October 2014 with a targeted completion date of spring 2015. Future plans call for a mix of commercial and residential development.
