A HERITAGE HOTEL IN THE OLD CITY OF AHMEDABAD. THE STUDIO FOCUSED ON RETAINING THE HERITAGE VALUE OF THE EXISTING BUILDING AND CREATING A SPACE THAT COMPLIMENTED THE CULTURE AND THE CONTEXT OF THE SITE.

SAITYA A HERITAGE HOTEL. The old city of ahmedabad shows us traces of the earliest hospitality spaces that we had come up with in the city. The step wells that we see in the old city is the answer to the biggest problem that we in the semi arid zone of India had to face(drought). The tourists/ travellers in the old times were given a space to rest and that same space was a community gathering space, it was cool and also conserved rain water. The idea is to reflect and recreate the stepwell as a modern day hospitality space.

THE STUDIO OBJECTIVE WAS FOCUSED TO LEARN TO DETAIL AND UNDERSTAND A RETAIL STORE. EXPLORING AND NDERSTANDING EXISTING BRANDS AND STRATEGICALLY PLANNING A PLOTTING A NEW BRAND.
THE CARING HUMAN IS BRAND THAT
SELLS HORSE AND DOG ACCESSORIES, THE STUDIO FOCUSED ON DETAILING THE RETAIL STORE AND MAKING A 1:1 PROTOTYPE OF OUR DISPLAY SYSTEM. UNLIKE ANY RETAIL STORE THIS RETAIL STORE FINDS ITS ATTRACTION IN THE WARM AND CALM STORE WHERE YOU CAN VISIT WITH YOUR PET SPEND SOME TIME IN THE BREAK OUT SPACE IN THE STORE AND LEAVE THIS STORE HAS BEEN PLANNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THERE IS A MAXIMUM OF IMPULSE BUYING AND ALL THE FIXTURES HAVE BEEN DERIVED BY THE ERGONOMICS OF A HUMAN INTERACTINGWITH A HORSE OR A DOG DEPENDING ON THE PRODUCT THE DISPLAY SYSTEM SELLS.

THE STUDIO OBJECTIVE WAS FOCUSED TO
LEARN AND UNDERSTAND THE OPERATION OF A PUBLIC SPACE WITH AN INTERPRETATION CENTRE OF AMUL. THE PROJECT FOCUSED ON LEARNING AND GETTING INSPIRED FROM AMUL AS A BRAND AND MAKING A SPACE TO EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT THE BRAND AND ALSO MAKING A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE ARE NOT OVER WHELMED WITH THE SPACES. THE INTERPRETATION CENTRE IS MADE IN SUCH A WAY THAT THERE IS NO PATH TO FOLLOW IN THE SPACES BUT NATURAL LIGHT AND COURTYARDS ARE THE GUIDING ELEMENTS THROUGH THE SPACES AND ALSO PUTS YOU BACK TO A VERY SIMPLE BUILDING GRID AND PLAY OF VOLUMES AND SURFACES.

AN INTERPRETATION CENTRE FOR AMUL, THE ESSENCE OF AMUL LIES IN ITS INDIANNESS THAT IS LEAVING THE CORE OPEN FOR EVERY PERSON TO LIVE THE SPACE IN HIS/HER WAY. THE SPACE SPACIALLY GUIDES YOU THROUGH ALL THE DISPLAYS,GATHERING SPACES AND COURTYARDS BEING THE CORE GUIDING PATHS AND GOVERNING TEH SPACE AND FREE OPEN EDGES SHOWING YOU TEH ENDLESS GREEN AMUL CAMPUS THE FACTORY AND KURIEN SIRS MEMORIAL.
AMUL BEING THE FIRST MILK CO-OPERATIVE OF INDIA WHERE PEOPLE CAME TOGATHER AND MADE UNIONS AT SMALLER LEVELS WHERE THEY COULD GET AND GENERATE A FAIR PRICE FOR MILK THAT THEIR CATTLE PRODUCE. THE UNITED EFFORT OF ALL INDIVIDUALS IS AMUL BEING A COMMON GROUND FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS AND TREATING EVERYONE EQUALLY AND NOT BEING BAISED

AND UNDERSTAND, TO LOOK AT ART IN A WAY THAT IT IS NOT JUST TREATED AS AN ART PIECE BUT ALSO ADDS TO THE SPACE AND MAKES AN ELEMENT WHERE PEOPLE INTERACT WITH THE SPACE WITH THE INTERVENTION BEING AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE INTERACTION. NAVRANGPURA BUS STATION A STRUCTURE MADE BY AR. CHARLES CORREA FUNCTIONING AS A TELEGRAPH OFFICE GAVE US A VERY NICE CANVAS WHERE WE COULD MAKE INTERVENTIONS WHERE THE INSPIRATION OF THE ART WAS IN MUSIC WHICH WAS FOLLOWED BY THE MONOTONOUS HARMONY OF PEOPLES LIFE AND IT BEING A TRAQUILE CORNER FOR PEOPLE WHERE PEOPLE COULD READ AND ALSO KNOW ABOUT MUSIC AND PLAY IT.

RHYTHM, HARMONY AND TRIADS THE SEMESTER FOCUSED ON EXPLORING HARMONY, RHYTHM IN SPACES USING DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES AND THAN SPACE PLANNING AND DEFINING WHY WOULD THE SPACE CHANGE AND HOW WOULD IT TRANSFORM ITSELF TO A HARMONIUS TRANQILE CORNER IN THE CENTRE OF THE CITY.

TERRACE PLAN THE TERRACE HAVING A MUSIC STUDIO WHICH CAN BE RENTED AND A CAFETERIA FOR PEOPLE TO SIT AND ENJOY THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THE CITY FROM A WARM COSY SPACE.

THE SPACE WAS MADE KEEPING IN MIND AND RESEARCHING ABOUT KIDS AND DOGS INTERACTING WITH EACH OTHER IN A WAY THAT IT IS ALWAYS A SAFE INTERACTION FOR BOTH DOGS AND KIDS AND HAVING A MAXIMUM SPACE FOR THEM TO BURN THEIR ENERGY AND REST WITH EACHOTHERS COMPANY WHERE PARENTS OF BOTH CAN LEAVE THEIR DOGS AND KIDS AND ENJOY THE OTHER THINGS ON CAMPUS.

THE STUDIO FOCUSED ON AN ARTSISTS STUDIO RESIDENCE PROJECT FOR THEO VAN DOESBURG AN ARTIST BELONGING TO DE DSTLJI ART TIME, WHERE HE COULD SHOWCASE AND ALSO INTERACT WITH PEOPLE LIVING IN CHAMPANER. THE LATER HALF OF THE STUDIO WAS TO MAKE A CAFETERIA OVERLOOKING THE KANKARIA LAKE FROM A SITE GIVEN IN THE KANKARIA ZOO, WHICH WAS INFLUENCED BY THE FRESH GROWING PETALS OF A PLANT.

VISITING NATURE CAFETERIA THE CAFETERIA IS INSPIRED FROM THE TOP MOST LEAVES OF A GROWING PLANT, FRESH AND EXCITING. SINCE THE SITE GIVEN, IS A PART OF KANKARIA ZOO AND IS OVER LOOKING THE KANKARIA LAKE ON THE SOURTHERN SIDE THE PLACE IS MEANT TO BE IN RELATIONBETWEEN MAN AND NATUREAND EMPHASIZE THE BEAUTY OUR AMAZING MOTHER EARTH. YOU STAND UNDER THE HUGE LEAF WHICH WHICH IS THE REPLICATION OF THE TOP MOST FRESH LOOKING LEAF OF A GROWING PLANT.

THEO VAN DOESBURG THEO VAN DOESBURG WAS A LEADER OF DE STILJI ART MOVEMENT BEING ONE OF THE CORE LEADERS WHO BELIEVED IN PUBLIC ART AND ALSO ADDRESSED FELLOW ARTISTS REGULARLY HE LIKED TO SPEND MOST OF THE TIME IN HIS STUDIO WITH OTHER ARTISTS AND DISPLAYED HIS WORK.
