California Insurance Law Observer

California Insurance Law Observer In my wildest dreams, I never thought I’d be brave enough to live the life I’ve always imagined. Even as a small child, I never really knew what I wanted to do with my life, professionally. I never had an answer when adults would ask me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. My work in the insurance industry wasn’t what I would call “fulfilling,” and one day, I’d had enough. I quit my job after 5 years with the company and began traveling the world. Experiences like these don’t have to be hard to come by, and through this blog, I hope to inspire others to get out there and see the beauty that the world has to offer.

Life Before Traveling As I stated above, I used to work in the insurance industry. It wasn’t like I had always dreamed of being a claims adjuster, it was just something I sort of fell into. After having graduated with my B.A. in English Literature, and realizing soon after how useless my degree was going to be, I took a job working insurance because I knew it would pay enough to cover my bills. Unfortunately, my income left little room for me to do anything other than work and pay bills. I would watch television most times, because my $15 Netflix subscription was all the excitement I could afford, and I would be able to escape, for a short while, into the world. I dreamed of exploring the jungle, scuba diving, hiking, lounging on the beach, doing yoga, meeting people, trying new foods, and experiencing all life had to offer, but that’s as far as I would allow myself to go . . . my dreams that is.

What Made Me Leave the Insurance Industry I was as shocked as my boss and my family the day I quit my job. Honestly, it was just like any other mundane Monday. I grabbed my Starbucks latte and made it to the office by 9 am where I exchanged trivial conversation with Joe from accounting and agreed with Mary, “You’re right, your grandchildren are just so precious.” I sat down at my computer to begin working on a car insurance claim and it was like my body refused to type another word. I froze and just sat staring at my computer for a moment. Looking back, I still feel a little guilty about how I quit. I didn’t even tell my boss I was leaving. I just got up and walked out the door without saying a word. Thankfully, the turnover was high there and I was barely noticed, so I suppose I shouldn’t feel too guilty. I went to my studio apartment, packed a bag with all the necessities, and took off to the airport. I didn’t even know where I was going, I just knew I was going to take charge of

my life. I landed in Iceland 24 hours later and have been traveling the world ever since. I don’t spend a day of my life working. I earn money as a YouTube creator and simply share my experiences with more than 6 million followers who I hope have been inspired to live their best lives. You may have seen my videos, but this blog is another little piece of me, an online diary, I guess. On my YouTube channel, you see me traveling and experiencing life, but here, you’ll see me process it.
