JOIN US IN JOSHUA TREE Journey to the desert to experience the union of floral and film. Photographers, florists and stylists are invited to join Kayla Barker and Bows and Arrows for three days of creating beautiful imagery, being inspired by the remote desert landscape, making new friendships and absorbing valuable information to elevate your business to the next level. We will meet on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park in southern California at a 1960’s bungalow for teaching, meals and hands on creating, styling and photographing of editorial-style photoshoots. Florists and stylists will be working with Alicia Rico of Bows and Arrows and photographers will be learning and photographing alongside Kayla Barker for these collaborative shoots. Kayla and Alicia want you to leave this workshop feeling rejuvenated and inspired. This workshop is not just about growing your photography business, but it also focuses on finding your artistic style, curating your work, developing relationships and a community and learning to love yourself and your work. KAYLA BARKER - PHOTOGRAPHER, KAYLA BARKER FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY Kayla Barker is a fine art film photographer based in Texas specializing in destination weddings and organic, relaxed portraits. In the past seven years, she has photographed celebrations in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, the Caribbean to name a few. She is in The Knot Hall of Fame, a Style Me Pretty Little Black Book Destination Member, was nominated in Belle Lumiere’s Film Photographer of the Year Award and she has been featured in publications and blogs such as The Knot, Style Me Pretty, Magnolia Rouge, Utterly Engaged, Grey Likes Weddings, Junebug Weddings, Tulle Magazine, Belle Lumiere and more.

ALICIA RICO - FLORAL DESIGNER, BOWS + ARROWS Dedicated to the creation of beauty via the art of floral design, Alicia of Bows + Arrows works with her environment, gathering inspiration from the landscape and working with seasonal flora. Alicia earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting. Her formal art training informs decisions of composition, color and texture. Her work has been seen in printed publications including Martha Stewart Weddings, Southern Weddings, Magnolia Rogue, D Magazine, Lucky Magazine, Traditional Home as well as online publications such as Once Wed, Style Me Pretty, Design Sponge, Martha Stewart Weddings, Slow Flowers, The Knot and many more.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT ALL IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE? This workshop includes two full days of teaching by Kayla Barker and the other industry-leading vendors, hands-on shooting time of three or more beautifully styled shoots for you to learn from and use from your portfolio along with a welcome reception and meals, a portfolio review one-on-one with Kayla, gifts from our sponsors and a post-workshop one hour Skype session with Kayla to review your photos, film scans or updated portfolio. Travel and accommodations not included. CAN DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHERS COME? Absolutely! This workshop is open to both digital and film photographers who are beginning or experienced shooters who want to grow their business in wedding, lifestyle, portrait or fine art photography. Most parts of the workshop will be relative to both digital and film shooters. CAN NON-WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS COME? Please come even if you are not a wedding photographer! We will have a portrait styled shoot and we will be discussing how to incorporate the fine art approach to portrait photography as well as learning about styling your own shoots. WILL YOU PROVIDE FILM? We will provide a few rolls of film, but we recommend you bring a large stash of your own to document your journey!


HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS WILL BE ATTENDING? This workshop will have a more intimate feel with no more than fifteen photographers in attendance. CAN I SUBMIT THE PHOTOS FROM THE SHOOTS? Yes! You will be allowed to submit your photographs from the shoots after Kayla’s photographs have been featured. CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE SPECIAL DIETS? Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate you. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET THERE? The workshop will be located in the town of Joshua Tree, California 150 miles east of Los Angeles International Airport and 40 miles from Palm Springs International Airport. We will connect attendees in a Facebook group so you can share your transportation and accommodations if you would like. You can stay in Joshua Tree or the nearby towns of Twentynine Palms, Yucca Valley or even Palm Springs. We recommend checking out AirBNB or TripAdvisor for unique places to stay or camp.
