folk musicians and composers to celebrate this landmark achievement. And in the great Maverick tradition of having new works in conversation with those of the old masters, this year I am thrilled to present the complete cycle of the three string quartets of Pulitzer Prize winner Aaron Jay Kernis, in tandem with the three Quartets of Johannes Brahms.

Maverick Concerts, America’s oldest continuous summer chamber music festival, thrives on the love of great music amid unspoiled rustic splendor. Our iconic “music chapel,” built by hand in 1916 by founder Hervey White, is renowned for its suburb acoustics. Applauded as a multi-starred attraction Arturo O’Farrill by the National Register of Historic Places, our great hall’s sense of history and sylvan setting are two of the special charms of attending a concert at the Maverick.

Maverick Concerts is made possible in part with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
