WELCOME Enjoy some tea and coffee in the cosyness of The View. A Taste of Permaculture Lusi Alderslowe will introduce permaculture – a wholistic design system which can be applied to anything from your garden, to your business or community. She will outline the guiding ethics and principles and give a few Scottish examples to wet your appetite for more! Lusi is a Permaculture Practitioner, a Forest School Practitioner, a working group member for Permaculture Scotland, and teaches permaculture here in Glasgow. lusialderslowe@gmail.com / www.permaculture.org.uk/scotland / www.urbanroots.org.uk/workshops

AiRborne Kathy Beckett will introduce Colour-Ecology, a project developed with the support of House for an Art Lover. Since June, Kathy has been designing and building the Colour-Ecology dye garden with help from volunteers. The plants from the garden, alongside various species foraged in Glasgow, have provided a range of natural dyes for public engagement textile workshops - designed to connect people with the power of nature. Kathy graduated from The Glasgow School of Art in 2012 with a degree in Textile Design and is now working towards a Diploma in Permaculture Design in order to unite two of her passions: colour and a stewardship for nature. colour.ecology@gmail.co.uk / www.kathybeckett.co.uk / www.colour-ecology.co.uk

Jack and the Dancing Trees Mags Smith will tell a traditional Scottish tale that resonates with the ethics and principles of permaculture. The story will be followed by a space for observation and sharing. Mags has worked as a freelance community musician and storyteller for 12 years. She has currently reduced her work load and is exploring ways of being more sustainable with herself and the planet, drawing much inspiration from studying permaculture, nonviolence and volunteering in the Colour-Ecology garden.

Making Local Food Work Reuben Chesters runs Locavore, a Glasgow based social enterprise which works on projects and initiatives which contribute to the creation of sustainable local food systems. He will be talking about Locavore’s work to date including their shop and veg bag scheme as well as plans for the future. www.glasgowlocavore.org / 0141 328 3303 / reuben@glasgowlocavore.org

In this talk, Roy will discuss his healthy obsession with ‘rubbish’, how it formed the basis for his first professional work, and how that theme has evolved for him in unexpected directions. Roy has worked for a variety of commercial and not for profit organisations, has tutored at many Scottish universities and is a founding member of MAKlab. roy@zero-waste.co.uk / www.maklab.co.uk / www.zero-waste.co.uk

Collaboration Station Hannah Brackson and William Greensmith present their recent collaboration and explore their independent practice. The Glasgow wooden bike project, led by William aims to reduce dependence on mass produced imported products. The project creates locally produced bicycles from recycled materials/components whilst empowering people with new skills and the experience of building something for yourself. Hannah works with public and socially engaged art projects, using interactive and often mobile solutions as mechanisms for an exchange of knowledge and the creation of conversations. These interventions are embedded in a belief that empowerment should lie at the heart of art and design. han_brackston@hotmail.co.uk / willie-g@hotmail.co.uk www.hannahbrackston.wordpress.com / www.glasgowwoodenbikeproject.wordpress.com
