The AGM

It’s a NEW YEAR and Kansas Youth Soccer is Changin’

Are You going?

Happy New Year to all of our families in soccer!! We are pleased to formally announce the adoption of our new logo. This logo was designed to create more brand awareness of our programming and we are excited about the element this adds to our organization as we look ahead to what Kansas Youth Soccer is and what it can become!

KSYSA ENCOURAGES YOU TO GIVE BACK!

Featured in the logo are three stars for each of our focus areas: Players, Coaches and Parents…this reminds us as we set goals and programs for the organization to always ask the right question: Is what we are doing, or planning to do, in the best interest of those three focus areas?

Each month we’ll feature a Kansas non profit organization that supports kids or soccer. This month our featured organization is:

THE DAOUDA KANTE SOCCER FOUNDATION Daouda is the Technical Director for one of our Member Affiliate Clubs: Kansas Rush. Originally from Mali, he has a foundation that works to provide fresh water for the people there. On January

26th, Daouda will be going to Mali and is hoping to bring not only water pumps but also school supplies. CLICK HERE to get more information on what they need and how you can GIVE BACK.

A YEAR OF HOPE 2012

The wheat sheaths and the original logo designed when we were founded in 1981 depict our State and our past history. Remembering where we are from and the values which brought us to where we are today. And finally, the rise of the State name over the horizon and the green pitch depict our hope in the future. We are looking ahead to become, for the game of soccer and the youth who love to play it in Kansas, the very best we can be. These are exciting times and we’ll be spending some time as an organization in the next several months planning how KSYSA can be of better service to our players, our coaches and our parents, as well as, our member Clubs and our State community.

State Cup, Jr. State Championships & Presidents’ Cup: KSYSA staff is hard at work preparing for registration to open after the first of the year for our three State Tournaments. Registration for all three of these events will open in early 2012. th

th

Kansas State Cup – (Open to U13-U19) will be held at the Overland Park Soccer Complex, May 30 – June 8 . Kansas State Cup is designed for teams who are highly competitive and wish to play for a chance to compete Regionally and Nationally if they win. th

th

Kansas Presidents Cup – (Open to U13-U17) will be held in Topeka at the Sunflower Soccer Complex May 25 - 27 President’s Cup is designed for teams who might not otherwise get the chance to compete at a Regional event, and if they win, a National tournament through US Youth Soccer. Teams who currently compete at a high level, but may not compete well at the State Cup event can use this tournament as a means to achieve Regional and National recognition. Last year KS sent 4 teams to the Regional event and 3 of those qualified for the National event. U15 girls KC Fusion Cummings became National Champions in the President’s Cup. th

th

Kansas Jr. State Championships – (Open to U11-U12) will be held in Olathe at the Lone Elm Soccer Complex, May 11 -13 . The purpose of the Kansas Jr. State Championships is to provide the opportunity for “elite” teams at the younger age groups to experience a culminating event with competitive significance. The event helps teams gain experience for future Kansas State Cup and Kansas President’s Cup competitions, as well as, Regional and National event competitions. All teams participating in Kansas State Tournament Events must be KSYSA registered teams and have played in a KSYSA sanctioned event.

USSF Approves Kansas State Hosted National “C” Licensure Course for Spring 2012: KSYSA is pleased to offer a National “C” course, May 12-20 at Ottawa University. Enrollment will begin in January of 2012 using the Got Soccer system. It should be noted that for the Fall of 2012, all coaches who will have teams competing in the Midwest Regional League must have their National “C” License. The KSYSA would like to offer coaching courses across the State but Clubs and Leagues must request these: To find out more information about how your Club can host a coaching course or course options in general CLICK HERE Summer Camps…In 2012! KSYSA Director of Coaching, Mark Sheldon announces that several Summer Camps are planned for this summer including: In State Development Camps Players born between 1995 and 2002 – June 25-28, Ottawa University High School Boys – July 23-26, Ottawa University High School Girls – July 30 – Aug 2, Ottawa University Registration will open in January of 2012.

Just For Registrars: Did you Know? GOT SOCCER TIDBITS: • Got Soccer will be at our Annual General Meeting to answer questions and meet you in person. • The “matching player” alert currently can only be done in the Registrars tab, but Got Soccer is working on a fix for that. • Be sure after you create your teams in the Club/Association tab that you “lock” them so they cannot be altered accidentally by a team manager or other team official. OTHER INFORMATION: • All At Large Players should be registering through the State Office – they can do this online. CLICK HERE to get more info. • Bylaws and Constitutional Amendments this year address AGM meeting location, date and time changes; Member voting rights and the calculations for Affiliate members and Bylaw change submissions. • The Board of Directors is currently in discussions about open recruitment rules – we will keep you apprised of any changes • Please be advised that you should not give to any team, coach or manager players cards or State Rosters until all of your fees have been collected and those collections verified. We’ve had a few instances of this occurring and then a team/coach dropping off the radar. It’s happened state wide so be alert and pay attention so your club doesn’t get “taken”. • Conversely, if you are running a tournament and a team/coach/manager has not yet provided sufficient documentation for their team (required by sanctioning rules) OR they have not yet paid for your tournament you should NOT allow them to participate in tournament or league activities. If you have questions please contact Danita Hill
