Kansas State’s play on special teams has been unparalleled since 1990. In the area of blocked kicks, K-State has the fifth-most blocks in the nation since 2002 with 33, which includes a nation-leading and school-record-tying eight total blocks in 2008 (four punts, two extra points and two field goals). Also, Kansas State has amassed 49 total blocked kicks since 1996 and currently ranks second among Big 12 schools in total blocks in the 12-plus year history of the league. And, in non-offensive touchdowns, the Wildcats have ranked among the nation’s best over the past 10 seasons. Since 1999, the Wildcats rank second nationally in non-offensive touchdowns with 68, behind only Virginia Tech (70), and have collected 24 non-offensive scores since 2006, which are the most of any school in the country over that span. Under head coach Bill Snyder, four Wildcats have earned All-America status on special teams, including punter Sean Snyder (1992), kicker Martin Gramatica (1997, 1998), punt returner David Allen (1998, 1999) and kicker Jamie Rheem (2000).
