BONDI APARTMENTS 2014 | Design Studio 5
Location: Brighton Blvd, Bondi, Sydney Design phase: Mar 2013 - Jul 2013
The proposed design draws and extends from the site’s natural characteristics to create a building of architectural distinction. The proposed 8 boutique apartments seeks to promote the concept of ‘outdoor living’, a lifestyle that is quintessential to the coastal , North Bondi suburb.

EXPERIMENTAL ART FOUNDATION 2013 | Design Studio
Location: Waverton, Sydney Design phase: Mar 2013 - Jul 2013 Project Tutor: Ken Baird
THREE MAIN AREAS FOR ARCHITECTURAL INTERVENTION 1. The existing ‘street’ level 2. inside the coal loader tunnels 3. The coal loader roof. Incorporating an old Coal-Loading tunnel, the site faces west towards the infinite horizon and sea. The new experimental art foundation seeks to create a poetic architectural gesture that is simultanously innovative whilst minimal in impact. In particular it aims to respect and revive the site’s unique mix of landscape and industrial ruin.

THE EXISTING STREET’
CONVERSION OF EXISTING MASONRY TO ARTIST GALLERY
ARCHITECTURE AS SKIN
A steel truss supporting a glazed roof, provides an external ‘skin’ over the existing buildings. The combination of old and new creates spatially charged interstitual spaces. Spaces to inspire, provoke and generate new circulation, new events and new ideas. The intention is to fascilitate rather than dictate the creation of experimental art.

2. COAL LOADING TUNNELS
CONSTRUCTED GARDEN IN OLD COAL TUNNELS
OLD COAL TUNNELS ‘Internalised skin’
The steel skin of the street is inverted, providing an internalised tunnel skin. A steel grid structure follows the arch of the tunnel acting as a structural facilitator for future artworks
STEEL STRUCTURE TO FASCILIATE ART
The natural sanctuary space outside is extended into the middle tunnel. This underground garden, open to natural lighting above acts as a central reference point for individuals to meander away from the intensive vaulted art spaces

COAL LOADER LID Extending from the community gardens on ‘the street’. The greenhouse is built on top of the coal-loader in such a way that the individual moves seamlessly from ‘the street’ down a ramp into the greenhouse. A series of circular skylights open built in garden spaces to the sky above. As in ‘street’ level, one is continuously moving between varying degrees of enclosed, semi-open and open spaces.

‘HOUSE OF SEEDLINGS’ St Finn Barrs Primary School Launceston, TAS Feb 2012
Designed as part of the 2013 Australian Timber Design workshop, the client brief requested a ‘resolved design solution for the Garden Shed and Outdoor Learning space at St Finn Barrs Catholic School.’ It is envisaged that the project will establish a prototype which may be used by other schools within Tasmania and Australia. 21
section and plan for outdoor learning shelter
The front doors and wall section of the shed are designed to contain all teaching supplies such as shelves, a deployable whiteboard etc. A free-form digitally fabricated timber roof projects out from the front of the shed to provide a shaded outdoor learning space for the children.
Rather than walling it off, the boundary of the space is instead defined by benches supported by columns which ring the perimeter. Colours and shapes in in regards to the form and it’s aesthetic were selected through extensive consultation with children and teachers at the school to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment.

BURTON’S STUDIO 2012 | EXHIBITED
This project focuses on the development of skills in architectural representation. A simplistic and somewhat tree-house like structure lends itself to the whimsical and child-like nature of Tim burton. Each perspective aims to encapsulate aspects of Burton personality within the structure and it’s context.

‘DOUBLE TAKE’ Beginners in painting 2014 | Gen-ed elective
From afar the artwork gives the facade of a traditional chinese painting, however as one steps closer, it becomes evident that the mountains are instead ‘fields’ of skyscrapers and buildings. It appropriates traditionally painted cherry blossoms and its mountainous backdrop to better reflect today’s industrialised reality. College of Fine Arts Medium: Acrylic on Montage
acrylic washes, my work attempts to re-create the somewhat surreal and claustrophic atmosphere as seen in CBD’s around the world, inparticular, Japan and China.
It is an artwork that not necessarily aims to challenge our reality, but rather serves as a candid observation. It Constructed from prints, particular it seeks to revive a individually and tediously painting style that is often seen montaged in layers of off-white as beautiful but irrelevent. 29
