WORLDS OF WEINLAND This proposal seeks to create several typologically unique, yet intertwined “worlds”: a dense urban town center, a mythical forest moat, an agricultural pasture, ĂŶĚ ĂŶ ŽƉĞŶ͕ ƵŶƉƌŽŐƌĂŵŵĞĚ ƉĂƌŬ͕ ĨŽƌ ƌĞĐƌĞĂƟ ŽŶ ĂŶĚ ůĞŝͲ sure. From the southwest corner of the site, all of these ǁŽƌůĚƐ ĐĂŶ ďĞ ĂĐĐĞƐƐĞĚ ǀŝĂ ƚŚĞŝƌ ŽǁŶ ͞ŐĂƚĞƐ͗͟ ƚŚĞ ĨĂƌŵͲ ĞƌƐ͛ ŵĂƌŬĞƚ ƉƵůůƐ ƚŚĞ ƐƚƌĞĞƚ ŝŶƚŽ ƚŚĞ ǁŽƌůĚ ŽĨ ƚŚĞ Į ĞůĚƐ͕ ƚŚĞ ƐĞĞĚ ďĂŶŬ ŐƵĂƌĚƐ ƚŚĞ ĞŶƚƌĂŶĐĞ ƚŽ ƚŚĞ ĚĞŵŽŶƐƚƌĂƟ ŽŶ ŐĂƌĚĞŶƐ͕ ǁŚŝĐŚ ŵĞĚŝĂƚĞ ďĞƚǁĞĞŶ ƚŚĞ Į ĞůĚ ĂŶĚ ƚŚĞ ƉĂƌŬ͕ Ă ŐƌĂŶĚ ĞŶƚƌĂŶĐĞ ƚŽ ƚŚĞ ƉĂƌŬ ŐƌĂŶƚƐ ǀŝĞǁƐ ĂĐƌŽƐƐ ƚŽ ƚŚĞ ǀŝƐͲ tas of the picnic pavilion and gardener’s house, the café
ĚĞůĂLJƐ ĞŶƚƌĂŶĐĞ ƚŽ ƚŚĞ ƚŽǁŶ ĐĞŶƚĞƌ͕ ĂŶĚ LJŽƵ ƐůŝƉ ƉĂƐƚ ƚŚĞ Ň ŽƌŝƐƚ ƚŽ ŐĂŝŶ ĞŶƚƌĂŶĐĞ ƚŽ ǁŽƌůĚ ŽĨ ƚŚĞ ĨŽƌĞƐƚ͘ dŚĞƐĞ ŵŽŵĞŶƚƐ ŽĨ ŝŶƚĞƌƐĞĐƟ ŽŶ are animated over and over again throughout the site. One of these ŵŽŵĞŶƚƐ ŽĐĐƵƌƐ ŝŶ ƚŚĞ ƌĞƐƚĂƵƌĂŶƚ͗ ŝƚ ĂĐƚƐ ĂƐ ƚŚĞ ĞŶĚ ŽĨ ƚŚĞ ƵƌďĂŶ ƉĞͲ ĚĞƐƚƌŝĂŶ ƌŽĂĚ͕ ůŝŬĞ dŚŽŵĂƐ :Ğī ĞƌƐŽŶ͛Ɛ ƌŽƚƵŶĚĂ Ăƚ hs ͕ ĂƐ ŝŶĚŝī ĞƌĞŶƚ ŽďũĞĐƚ ŝŶ ƚŚĞ Į ĞůĚ͕ ĨĂĐŝŶŐ ƚŽ ƚŚĞ ƐŽƵƚŚĞĂƐƚ͕ ůŝŬĞ DŝĞƐ ǀĂŶ ĚĞƌ ZŽŚĞ͛Ɛ Farnsworth House, and it acts frontally like a renaissance villa to the northwest corner of the site. It is possible to become lost individually ŝŶ ĞĂĐŚ ǁŽƌůĚ͕ ďƵƚ ĂƐ ĞĂĐŚ ďƵŝůĚŝŶŐ ĂŶŝŵĂƚĞƐ ƚŚĞ ĂĐƟ ǀŝƚLJ ŝŶ ƚŚĞ ŽŶĞ next to it, so does each world animate the ones beside it.
