EVOLUTION OMM SPRING/SUMMER 2011 In order to endure great challenges we must innovate and evolve to eradicate weakness. Competing on the OMM has taught us this. Clarity of purpose and mental toughness are as important as physical prowess. The same principles pervade our products to meet the needs of outdoor athletes, through continuous development and the evolution of product. This is the Spring Summer 2011 OMM range. The OMM Classic 25 and 32 have, for a long time, been the packs of choice for adventure racers across the world. Feedback from these racers was historically used to make small developments and our evolution was slow and steady. This year it is time to consolidate. We have creatively deconstructed our entire pack range to encompass original and new concepts and shift focus from modification to core design. OMM’s 42 years provide us with a singular understanding of outdoor athletes. The unique stretch Kamleika Race and Winter 2010 season (e.g. Cypher 3-layer eVent hardshell 240g) initiated the application of this experience to textile development. We understand that adventure racing takes place in all conditions, all year round and continued evolving 2010 products accordingly. ‘First Layer’ is our next step. The OMM event welcomes all, from the cream of international mountain athletes, to the ambitious first timer. In 2011 we welcome the original mountain bike marathon, The Polaris, to our event portfolio. We also welcome back the Alpine OMM. The OMM community is strong and growing. It is diverse in age and background but clear and purposeful in its intent. OMM belongs to the participants and their ownership has led design and driven innovation. The heritage is long but new faces are embraced and fresh ideas debated. We love to be on the mountain. We love to race. We are OMM.

OMM Clothing Design Principles

Leanweight – The right features at minimal weight for best performance. OMM clothing must be light but not at the sacrifice of safety or function. 2008’s great Storm demonstrated that OMM eventer’s can be isolated in very extreme conditions where correct clothing is survival. On The Move Accessibility – Most of your kit will not need to be accessed while moving. However, water, food, compasses and maps are essential to keep at hand. Our packs embody this and our clothing follows the same opportunities when travelling without a pack. Ventilation – Temperature regulation is essential to minimise perspiration and maximize comfort on endurance events. Your insulation needs change as you ascend, descend, run and take breaks. To minimize lost time through constantly changing layers OMM clothing must vent. Sleeves must be able to be pushed up and long zips open the body to a breeze. Compatibility – We move all seams away from rub points with packs and avoid conflict with pockets where possible. Latest technologies ensure seaming is flat where needed. Fit and Motion – Accurate fit creates better insulation, breathability and minimises flapping fabric. However, you must be free to do what you want to do. We use stretch fabrics for a silent, best of both worlds solution for our athletes but also offer hard fabrics for increased durability for those wanting to get a bit closer to the rock. Layering – Flexibility to use a limited number of garments to generate a wide range of insulative and weather responsive combinations is core to being truly leanweight.

OMM Core Pack Design Principles

LEANWEIGHT

The Multisport Compressor (MSC) gives compression and load carry:

We donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t all use our OMM packs in the same way or for the same things and the features we require vary accordingly. For example, some people like to use a hydration bladder; some people like to use bottles. OMM specially creates parts of the pack that can be removed to produce a personally optimized leanweight product. We also provide instructions in our product manuals (www.theomm.com) for one-time customization. This is an invite to get the scissors out and remove features while, if done to our guidelines, not invalidating your guarantee. Our quoted LEANWEIGHT is the pack weight if you take all removable parts off. LINK system OMM packs are designed from our Mountain Marathon experience. However, we use them for many other things. The LINK system allows us to join OMM products from throughout the range in a modular system to create a pack that is unique to the user and tailored to travel, ski, climb or anything else.

We design parts of our packs to have dual or more usage. the Duomat is both a back system and a sleep mat: The Universal Gear Rail (UGR) allows you to carry a very versatile set of Kit from Axes to Snowshoes and beyond. Hydration All Packs are designed for endurance sports so water carry and accessibility is essential. Stability Packs need to be stable for comfort while active. Harness attachment and compression systems keep the load tight to the back and stable. Strength OMM Leanweight chassis system and technical fabric selections provides strength at minimal weight. On The Move Accessibility Most of your kit will not need to be accessed while moving. However, water, food, compasses and maps etc. are essential to keep at hand for easy on the move access.

An innovative bottle holder which attaches to the shoulder harness of all our packs. Daisy Chain attachment points included on some packs for extra attachment options.

Narrow gauge for hand carry and minimal slosh which improves running stability. Very wide neck for powder fill, SIS drink fill markings, 500ml capacity. Supplied as standard with Ultra Waist Pouch 6. OMM ergonomic design.
