Implementing daylighting systems is not easy, and can be expensive. Interactions with interior shading must be considered. Occupants and building operators need to understand the intended operation of the systems and how to keep them functioning properly. Many existing advanced daylighting systems are not working as intended, or have been disabled, and often these systems are not delivering expected savings. A robust program of analysis is needed to determine the critical elements of successful projects.
