Opel Opel operations in Kaiserslautern began in 1966, making it one of the senior U.S. run companies located in The American City in Germany. The Kaiserslautern plant produces body components, and manufacturers both diesel and gasoline engines. The facility is the center of component production for all Opel operations in Europe.

The Kaiserslautern facility could be best described as a Supplier Park, since it is host to various automotive manufacturing operations, such as press parts and chassis components. The plant also produces body and suspension components, along with seat components and aluminum hoods. Opel employs 3250 employees in a facility that is 1.5 million square meters in size. Its daily average production figures are impressive: 250,000 press parts, 2000 front and rear corners, 700 engines, and a shipping volume of 380,000 parts per day.
