Why

Joelle Watt Studios

She sat across from me with tears streaming down her face... “I didn’t understand that I could feel that day again.... and you knew... We look at our images and it is so emotional! We feel it all over again....” And that is what the bottom line is. We could talk to you about the fact that we have been in the wedding photography business for over ten years. We could tell you that we have encountered and conquered almost any crazy wedding scenario that you could imagine (along with a car popping out of gear during the outdoor ceremony and miss hitting the wedding party by mere feet, only to plummet into the beautiful vineyard). We could tell you that we have shot well over 200 weddings. Or we could mention that our time schedule is so seamless that when following it, you won’t believe how perfectly your day can flow. We could mention countless points, but the very most important, bottom line fact is, that we get it. We know that your day is but one incredibly important, heart tugging, incredibly beautiful and emotional day in your life. And that is what we specialize in...the importance, the beauty and the emotion. Our images transport your mind, body and soul back to your special day. Ready for more? Read on....

T

iming is Everything!

Joelle has developed a “formula” for using the time of your wedding to it’s greatest potential. This involves careful planning and a foolproof timeline schedule that will optimize the potential for crazy amazing images on your wedding day. The following pages are filled with detailed timing for flow, so that you can see where and when everything takes place on your special day. Read on and please feel free to print out the pages. They will serve as “worksheets” in organizing your wedding day.

Who knew that your photographer could also be your wedding coordinator?

Over the years, we have developed a timeline that is a great resource in planning out your day, as well as how long to expect your treasured images will take. Together, these are also tips to make your wedding run smoothly: Gown, hair, shoes and make-‑up shots: 15 minutes Bride stepping into gown: 15 minutes As soon as the bride is dressed, I start the pictures with images of the bride alone. I love the look of a bride who has just stepped into her gown, feeling the most beautiful that she has in her life. Those first few moments are so special.

Bride: 20 minutes alone Bride and Bridesmaids & Group Shots: Average 2 minutes per Bridesmaid: Approx. 25 minutes Bride Bride Bride Bride Bride Bride

and family images: 15 minutes and Mom and Dad Mom and Dad and Siblings Siblings and parents

There MAY be extra time before the ceremony, but this works best timewise, due to the fact that guests do start arriving a little early. We like to get the shooting done before this occurs so that the bride remains unseen until her entrance. Groom: 15 minutes alone Groom and Groomsmen & Group shots: Average 2 minutes per Groomsmen Approx. 20 minutes Groom Groom Groom Groom Groom Groom

and Family images: 15 minutes and Mom and Dad Mom and Dad and Siblings Siblings and parents

We need to finish the Groom and Groomsmen images at least 40 minutes before the ceremony IF the groomsmen are also the ushers.

Ceremony: * * * * *

Can I use flash? Can I move about inconspiculously? Where in the ceremony is the kiss? Are there any other special events during the ceremony? Where in the ceremony is the *kiss*?

Wedding average: 60 minutes Receiving Line 40-‑45 minutes for an average of 200 guests Attendance over 200 allow for 10 minutes per additonal 25 ppl. Additional Time needed:_____________________

Receiving Line options: I have seen different versions of this from wedding to wedding. I will begin the list with my personal favorite to my least. Even with this said, the choice is only up to YOU...it is YOUR wedding after all! The bride and groom release: This is when the bride and groom exit the sanctuary after being announced. A few quick moments are spent alone, and then the bride and groom enter once again, making their way to the very first pew. They begin on the brideʟ’s side and person-â€?‑ ally release all of the guests. The row will stand, and the bride and groom greet each guest as they exit the pew. The bride and groom alternate from the brideʟ’s side, to the groomʟ’s, to the brideʟ’s and so on.... The traditional receiving line: Standing at the rear of the church, the bride and groom greet each guest as they exit the church. This goes much quicker with ONLY the bride and groom in the line. Time is truly added with parents, as well as the wedding party. Greet at the reception: the bride and groom, after dinner, greet each guest at the reception. This greeting DOES add quite a bit of time to your reception “down timeâ€?. At least an 90 minutes is spent with only dinner music playing. After the ceremony pictures: 90 minutes note breakdown included As soon as the wedding is finished, and the receiving line done, we immediately begin the family pictures. Weather permitting, I prefer to start these pictures outside. We begin with the eldest family members in respect to their health and age, then to the youngest family members, and then to all of the in betweeners ! (I usually photograph on average, approx. 10-â€?‑13 different family shots....the more that you choose to have shot WILL increase the time needed between the ceremony and reception. You can expect to add 6 minutes per family member request)

Bride and Groom outside at church: 10 minutes These are the more Formal, looking a the camera shots. Bridal Party images: 20 minutes Bride and Groomsmen : 5 minutes Groom and Bridesmaids: 5 minutes Bride and Groom Together : 20 minutes Reception order: This is the order of the reception that I feel runs most smoothly, and is most considerate of your time. Again, this is your wedding, and these are just my suggestions for you. * Entrance 10 minutes * First dance 10 minutes * Cutting of the cake 5 minutes

(I like these events to be first foremost because ALL of the attention is directly on the couple at this time. The cutting of the cake happening quickly as well, allows for the cake to be sliced in order to be dessert for all of the guests to enjoy)

* Blessing 5 minutes * Toast 15 minutes * Dinner 40 minutes

My suggestion at this point is given with the understanding that the bride & groom as well as the families are served dinner first. 40 minutes is adequate time to eat and to refresh. At this time, I suggest starting the father/daughter, mother/son dances. This serves as “entertainment” during the dinner and keeps your reception alive with events. The attention again will be on the dance floor as everyone is seated and still enjoying dinner.
