othing’s quite as liberating as that first breath of salty ocean air upon arrival at one of North Carolina’s quaint seaside towns. Nestled among them is the small historic town of Beaufort, where the water laps at the dock along Front Street, seagulls fly overhead and a myriad of boats bob back and forth, just waiting for a rider to come aboard. Despite its size, Beaufort has a lot going for it – Clawson’s 1905 Restaurant & Pub is packed on weekends, charming bed-and-breakfasts are tucked away on side streets and inviting gift shops and seafood eateries line the waterfront. Perhaps the town’s most impressive asset, however, is the North Carolina Maritime Museum, where visitors can learn about the notorious Blackbeard the Pirate and see artifacts recovered from his 18th-century shipwreck,
