Medical Transcription Editor Approved by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), the Medical Transcription Editor program prepares students for medical transcription and editing careers. Topics studied include documentation, biomedical sciences, and editing theory. Teacher Professional Development PBS TeacherLine PBS TeacherLine is the premier professional development resource offering online courses for PreK-12 teachers. Trained, certified facilitators, who are all Virginia educators, lead courses in Reading/Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, STEM, Instructional Technology, and Instructional Strategies. Students who participate in this online program can apply for graduate credits from James Madison University. Course fee varies

ISTE-T Certification The International Society for Technology in Education Standards for Teachers (ISTE-T) Certification is an internationally recognized certification program that engages teachers in a deeply reflective, intensive process to determine if their instructional technology practices meet the standards set forth by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). ISTE-T has been awarded an ISTE Mastery Level Seal of Alignment. Students who participate in this online certification program can apply for three graduate credits from James Madison University. $450 24

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) CEUs The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is the most commonly used form of recognition and documentation for noncredit continuing education courses and programs. Outreach & Engagement is the official university office responsible for awarding CEUs. Instructors/coordinators who wish to offer CEUs must complete the Noncredit Report/CEU Request form found on our website, and submit it to Outreach & Engagement. Submission of this form initiates the approval process for granting CEUs. It is solely up to the certifying agency — not JMU — whether to accept or decline CEUs. Requests should be submitted a minimum of two weeks (10 working days) prior to the beginning of the course. CEUs will not be granted for courses already delivered and completed. Fees apply. Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) James Madison University Lifelong Learning Institute (JMU-LLI) promotes lifelong learning by providing affordable, noncredit, intellectual, cultural, and social experiences to enrich the lives of adults in the central Shenandoah Valley. LLI offers a variety of noncredit courses, travel opportunities, common interest groups, New Horizons Band and social events. In addition, LLI hosts one-hour brown bag learning lunches on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. These are open to the public as a way to get to know LLI. Youth Programs JMU Outreach & Engagement provides academic enrichment opportunities for youth in our local communities. We partner with faculty, students, local school systems, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to offer fun, hands-on learning opportunities for youth in grades 2-12. Our programs are offered throughout the year and vary in length. Programs include: College for Kids, Saturday Morning Physics, Expanding Your Horizons, and Space Explorers Camp.
