Football’s Logan Ketchum (below left, pictured with water polo’s Leanne Ford) was named the SDSU male student-athlete of the year for demonstrating excellence in academics, athletics and leadership, while boasting outstanding character. D.J. Shields (below right) is presented with the Malik Award, which is awarded to student-athletes who achieve the department’s highest semester GPAs. Ketchum was also a recipient of the award. During the 2011-12 school year, 94 San Diego State student-athletes garnered all-academic honors from the Mountain West. A school-record 275 scholar-athletes who achieved a 3.2 semester GPA or have a 3.0 cumulative GPA were honored at the 18th annual SDSU Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet.
