LAS VEGAS, Nev. – With the help of Ronnie Hillman’s 192 yards and two touchdowns, San Diego State outscored its opponent in the second half for the seventh time this season en route to a 31-14 victory against UNLV at Sam Boyd Stadium. After allowing the Rebels to put up 233 yards of offense and two touchdowns in the first half, the Aztec defense held UNLV to just 28 yards of total offense and shutout an opponent in the second half for the third time this season. The Rebels jumped out to a fast start against SDSU, scoring back-to-back touchdowns on their second and third drives of the game. UNLV running back Tim Cornett accounted for both scores, one of which was a 54-yard run. SDSU struggled at the start of the game, as two of its first four drives resulted in losing the ball. The Aztecs’ first drive resulted in a turnover on downs at the Rebels’ 25-yard line and then SDSU threw an interception early in the second quarter. SAN DIEGO – In the inaugural “Battle for the Oil Can,” Ronnie Hillman rushed for 178 yards and four touchdowns to give San Diego State a 35-28 come-from-behind victory over Fresno State at Qualcomm Stadium. In their final regular-season home game, the Aztecs sent their 21 seniors out in style by scoring the deciding touchdown with only 1:09 remaining on a 2-yard run by Hillman. That final score capped an evening that saw SDSU fall behind 21-0 midway through the second quarter. The Bulldogs notched the first points of the game on a blocked field goal, as Isaiah Green rumbled 59 yards for the touchdown. The Aztecs tried to answer on their very next possession, but came up empty as they turned it over after Hillman was denied at the goal-line on fourth down. Using that momentum, Fresno State quickly doubled its lead when Derek Carr connected with Jalen Saunders on an 88-yard TD pass.
