We had a very good Four Ball Tournament this season thanks to the Greens Staff’s hard work and Mother Nature’s timely rain. As summer ebbs away, we will begin preparing the course for the fall and also next season. Among expected operations are:

• •

Lowering of the rough height! (Applause here) Overseeding weak and summer damaged areas Preparing the course for winter Gearing up for our annual “Leaf Wars”

There is still a lot of nice weather ahead so come out and enjoy your golf course. You may contact the Golf Shop staff for any updates on course conditions. Yours in golf, Scott Gabrielson, CGCS & The Greens Staff

Bylaws Overview Over the past year the Board of Directors and Bylaws Revision Committee has worked tirelessly to develop a revised set of bylaws that updates the last real revision from 25 years ago. The Bylaws Revision Committee consisted of Joe Penza, Len Accardo & Frank Connor. On August 13th the revisions were presented to the Stockholders and were slightly amended but ultimately approved. Some of the highlights of the revised bylaws: Board Size For the past 50 years the Board of Directors has consisted of 15 directors and 5 officers. The new bylaws changes the number of directors to 9 and officers to 4, eliminating the 2nd Vice President. In all likelihood this will happen over a 3 year period. Committees The Stockholders voted to take the number of committees from 15 to 10. The committees that will be functioning into the future: House & Rules, Grounds & Greens, Finance, Tournament, Social, Membership, Nominating, Golf, Properties & Audit Committee. New Member Application Process Previously new members had to wait as many as 30 days to join the Club. The new bylaws allows this to happenin 7 days, streamlining the process. Spending authority of the president & board was increased to current dollar valuation. Previously it hadn’t been updated since 1960. Other items included quorum update, % vote required to make significant changes and much more. Copies of the new bylaws will be available this fall.

Starting with the game of golf as a small child, I then moved to caddying and grew to love all things golf. I wanted to carry that love over to my career and not just a hobby, so I started working here at Alpine.
