April 2015

The Latest on Our Club’s Transformation As renovations are successfully underway, we want our members to be up-to-date on the current status of our Club’s improvements. Our team has been working hard to provide our members something to look forward to when visiting Alpine, and we are excited to unveil the final renovations within the next few months. The dining room has made great progress as we continue to work towards opening by June 1st. Over the next couple months, we will be completing the reconstruction plans, including the elimination of the room separators. We will also be adding new paint, restaining the furniture, and finally piecing together all of the elegant finishing touches that will make for the perfect member dining experience. In order to successfully complete these repairs, we will have to close our dining room for a select group of days. The room will be closed on the following dates: April 6-9, 13-16, 20-22, 2729, as well as May 4-7 and May 11-22. The dining room will be open between these dates, and members can still enjoy the Tyrolean room, as well as the bar and lounge area, as we complete this portion of our renovations. The outside patio will also be available during this time and we have purchased a large event tent for special outdoor events.

The dining room has made great progress as we continue to work towards the grand opening date of May 23rd.

The AboutGolf PGA Tour Curve simulator is a 20-foot wide, 20-foot long and 11-foot high system that will serve as a fun and interactive practice tool for members of all ages, as well as a place that children can play games and watch movies.

These renovations have been strategically managed to minimize the effect on member dining and events. As we complete these changes in separate stages, we will always have a space open for members to enjoy dining at the Club. We are also excited to introduce ‘Pub Amici’ as the official name for the new bar and recreation area of our Club. In addition to a fresh new menu and the perfect spot for social gathering, Pub Amici will feature the state-of-the-art sports entertainment center that will provide an area for all members to enjoy.

The new granite countertop in the main bar and window coverings for the Pub will be added by mid-April, and we will be removing the wall that separates the Alpine room and grille on April 6th. Final renovations for Pub Amici, including the installation of a new carpet, lighting and fresh paint, are set to be completed by the first week of May.

The men’s locker room will now be accessible through a new hallway attached from the Pub. The locker room granite countertops and shower tiles have already been installed, and the new doors will give the room a fresh new feel. The women’s locker room is also nearing final completion. As we anticipate the installment of the air conditioning units, light fixtures and drapes, the new paint and granite already look wonderful, and we are excited to have something special in store for the ladies of Alpine. Finally, as Spring begins to show its colors, we are preparing the pool area for its final renovations as well. The new furniture and awnings are ready to be placed, and we look forward to seeing everyone for its grand re-opening on Memorial Day. We would like to thank our members for their patience with us as we work to create a more enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. Each of these new features are centered on family and are designed to enhance the member experience at Alpine.

Golf Course Maintenance

To take a quote from Richard III out of context, “now is the winter of our discontent,” as in enough already, first day of spring and we expect accumulating snow and continued cold temperatures. While you don’t need to be reminded of the weather, the snow will melt sometime, just not sure when.

Hours of Operation April À La Carte Dining Monday – closed (Tuesday & Thursday – opening soon) Wednesday, Friday and Saturday – 11am to 9pm Sunday – 11am to 5pm

What do we expect when the snow melts? Early indications from sampling with a shovel and some exposed areas show the turf is viable, greens and tees look good, though there will be cosmetic damage from snow mold in the rough and some areas of the fairway, which will grow out as the weather changes. Fortunately for us winter did not really hit till late January with light, fluffy snow and limited ice coverage, boding well for survival, actually insulating the turf from the extreme cold. Some of the freeze-thaw cycles might cause limited ice damage (google winter crown hydration), but we have been through winter several times in our lives and things have a way of coming through. We will be enjoying the golf course again before you know it. Yours in golf, Scott Gabrielson, CGCS
