What the Enewari persecution can teach us about how to face our current challenges As you read in the cover story, during our first Medical Outreach of 2020, we experienced unprecedented violence in response to a key part of our Outreach – sharing the Good News of Jesus the Messiah. How our team saw God at work through it all and how they responded is a powerful lesson for all of us right now. For months now, we’ve all faced unprecedented I find in times of trouble, I enjoy some of challenges to try to stop the spread of the deadly my deepest fellowship with the Lord. I pray coronavirus. Theo Steinhauer, our Spiritual Affairs Manager who was one of our leaders on this Outreach, shared how the entire team was strengthened in their faith because of the persecution they faced together. They grew closer to God as they saw His love, grace and protection personally.

Those were the words shouted at our team as an angry mob forced their way into our Medical Outreach prayer tent this past March. They waved sticks in the air as they yelled and did what they could to disrupt what God was doing.

“They received it with joy, with tears in their eyes,” said Theo Steinhauer, Jewish Voice Spiritual Affairs Manager, who was leading their time together.

It was also clear from the angry mob and other resistance to the Gospel being shared that this was a spiritual battle.

Late that night, Ethiopian special forces helped evacuate all of our team members.

“He shielded us” Local authorities were able to get the mob out of the prayer tent. “The Lord’s amazing grace was there. He shielded us,” said Theo. They lost more (personal possessions) than other members of our team, yet their faith was strengthened. “Their love for the Lord was ignited into a bigger flame and their countenance was filled with joy,” Theo says. Please thank God with us for His protection and for so many coming to faith in Jesus as Messiah! Your prayers are appreciated for all of the new Believers to be strengthened in their faith. Solar-powered audio Bible “is changing our lives” Out in a very remote village in Ethiopia called Dengila, one of our staff members, Lee Weeks, sat with a family in their humble home drinking coffee. All of a sudden, the man jumped up and grabbed the audio Bible Jewish Voice gave him. His face lit up with a big smile. Through a translator, he said, “This book is changing our lives.” He explained how the Bible was changing his entire family’s life and others who came to hear the Bible. This man is now a leader in the small Messianic congregation in the area. Recently, the local pastor wrote to tell Lee that the congregation has gone from 6 Believers to 18 – they have tripled in size in a year! Being able to listen to the Bible in their own language has made such a difference. We want to say thank you to our partners in ministry for helping to provide solar-powered audio Bibles in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.

This man was so happy to receive a solar-powered audio Bible and to be able to share it with others.

You help meet a critical need for clean water and share the hope of Jesus Your support helps provide clean, safe water for Jewish people and their neighbors in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. Earlier this year, southern Zimbabwe was experiencing a drought so severe that cattle and crops were dying. In addition, most homes in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe have no running water for cooking, cleaning and washing. That’s why, when we have one of our Medical Outreaches, we also provide personal water filtration devices for individuals and families. When we provide clean, safe water for communities in need, the door is opened to sharing about Jesus the Messiah, who described Himself as “Living Water.” Together, we’re meeting critical physical and spiritual needs. Thank you! Water filtration devices mean clean, safe water for children and families.
